Join the "Team 1 Guys"

(Baonghean) - We arrived in Huoi Tu on a foggy day, when the soldiers of Construction Team 1 (XDCS1) of the Ky Son District Military Command were tending to the vegetable garden and repairing livestock pens in preparation for the upcoming visits and learning experiences of the local people.

While tidying up the chicken coop, Lieutenant Colonel Dau Sy Hung, the team leader, said: "Standing in this commune, we recognize that our nhiệm vụ is extremely challenging. This is a remote area, a crossroads of many main roads. The security and order situation in the area is extremely complex, while our forces are thin."

"Not to mention the harsh climate conditions, difficult transportation, limited levels of education, the persistence of outdated customs, and ongoing migration..." Through our conversation with Lieutenant Colonel Dau Sy Hung, we imagined that their work is truly demanding.

Besides advising the Party Committee and the government on reforming working methods and issuing resolutions, their daily tasks include organizing training plans for the militia, confiscating homemade weapons, and organizing forces to maintain security and order. Whenever there are land or farming disputes, people in Huoi Tu commune always turn to them for help in resolving the issues fairly and reasonably.

They are also effective advisors in organizing and building the local cultural life, proactively coordinating with mass organizations to mobilize the people to participate in the "All People Unite to Build a Cultural Life in Residential Areas" movement, gradually encouraging ethnic minority communities to eliminate backward customs and superstitions, effectively implementing poverty alleviation, building village regulations, and implementing grassroots democracy regulations... The officers and soldiers of Construction Team 1 also proactively coordinate with the Commune People's Committee to propagate and mobilize women of childbearing age to effectively implement family planning policies and take care of and maintain the health of the people; coordinate with the Health sector to promote expanded immunization and sanitation and disease prevention. Every year, during the Lunar New Year and the War Invalids and Martyrs Day, Construction Team 1 organizes visits and presents gifts to policy beneficiary families and families with meritorious contributions to the revolution.

While we were chatting, Mr. Vu Lia Gia (from Huoi Mu village) came to see Officer Hung to ask about treating his sick cow, which had stopped eating since yesterday. When asked, Mr. Vu Lia Gia added: “I often come here to learn from you about how to grow and care for vegetables so they thrive, and how to care for buffaloes, cows, pigs, and chickens so they grow quickly and healthily. Thanks to that, my family is no longer poor these past few years, and my children have all been able to go to Muong Xen and Vinh to study.”

Mr. Vu Giong Dia, Chairman of the People's Committee of Huoi Tu commune, affirmed: "We have received much effective support and valuable advice from Construction Team 1 in socio-economic development, firmly protecting national security and defense, and building and consolidating the grassroots political system. Therefore, the officers and soldiers of the team are always trusted and affectionately called by the local people: 'Team 1'."
