(Baonghean) - These are sinkholes at km 70+400 and km 71+100 on National Highway 48, passing through Chau Binh commune (Quy Chau district), which have been present for nearly a month, significantly affecting traffic safety for people and vehicles. Notably, these sinkholes are located at the bottom of very dangerous slopes.

The sinkholes after being repaired...

Local residents say these sinkholes appeared nearly a month ago after heavy rains. Initially, they were just cracks in the road surface, but then overloaded and oversized vehicles caused serious subsidence, creating deep trenches over 40 cm deep and nearly 10 meters long.

More dangerously, due to subsidence, some sections of the road surface have raised over 30 cm and are at least 6-7 meters long (such as at km 71+100), posing a significant risk to motorbike traffic, especially at night. Recently, on April 3rd, the Quy Chau Traffic Management Unit mobilized manpower and materials (soil, crushed stone) to lay aggregate to address the problem, but for some reason, after only a few days, the subsidence marks have returned to their original state!
