Nghe An Weekend Newspaper No. 9021 + 9022 + 9023 published on April 29, 2012 had an article "A rowboat takes soldiers across the river", reflecting: Mother Dau Thi Tan - 101 years old, in hamlet 3, Dang Son commune, Do Luong district, Nghe An province, a boatman who rowed wounded soldiers, transported ammunition and necessities across the Lam river during the two wars against the French and the Americans to save the country. Mother Tan's rowboat is registered as a souvenir at the Military Zone 4 Museum, placed side by side with Mother Suot's rowboat in Quang Binh province. However, since the end of the war, nearly 40 years ago, she has not received any benefits other than a monthly allowance for the elderly (180,000 VND/month), no health insurance card, no holidays, no New Year's, when she was sick, no one came to visit or encourage her.

The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs shall preside over and coordinate with the Provincial Military Command and the People's Committee of Do Luong district to check the content of the report. If correct, it is necessary to promptly consider and handle the matter so that Mother Dau Thi Tan can enjoy the benefits, or propose and advise competent agencies to resolve the matter according to regulations. Report to the Provincial People's Committee the handling results before June 10, 2012.
