Effective implementation of solutions to protect and prevent forest fires
(Baonghean.vn) - This afternoon, April 10, the People's Committee of Nghe An province organized a summary of the work of forest protection and forest fire prevention and fighting (FPF and FPF) in 2011, and deployed tasks for 2012. Comrades: Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Command Board for urgent issues in the province's FPF and FPF; Ho Ngoc Sy - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development chaired.
In 2011, with the attention of the province and the focused direction of the Forest Protection and Forest Fire Prevention and Control Committees at all levels, the work of forest protection and forest fire prevention and control had many changes, the forest coverage reached 53%. The functional forces discovered and handled 1,366 cases of violations of forestry law, confiscated nearly 3,000 m3 of round timber and sawn timber of all kinds, and paid to the state budget more than 24 billion 454 million VND. Last year, in the province, there were only 6 forest fires with a total area of nearly 61 hectares, of which the damaged forest area was more than 7.3 hectares (compared to 2010, there were 32 fewer fires and nearly 223 hectares of damaged forest area).
Comrade Dinh Viet Hong awarded Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee to collectives with achievements in forest protection.
Concluding the conference, comrade Dinh Viet Hong noted: 2012 is a leap year with two Aprils, so the heat and drought may last longer, and the deforestation situation is still complicated. Sectors, Party committees, local authorities and forest owners must strive to perform their functions and duties well, effectively deploy solutions for forest protection and fire prevention, protect the safety of the province's existing forests and minimize the area of forest burned.
On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 8 groups and 9 individuals; the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development rewarded 11 groups and 17 individuals for their outstanding achievements in forest protection and fire prevention in 2011.
