At least 22 gunmen were killed in clashes and airstrikes on the night of May 26 in southern Yemen.

According to local officials, 15 gunmen were killed in clashes in the northern Jaar area of ​​Abyan province. The bodies of seven gunmen were also found in the western Jaar area after an airstrike by Yemeni military aircraft.

The Ansar al-Sharia Islamist group, which has ties to the al-Qaeda terrorist network, took control of Abyan province last year, including the capital Zinjibar.
