Preparing for the 2012 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship (AFF Cup) taking place in September in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnamese women's football team will gather tomorrow, August 1.

The Vietnamese women's team will gather at the Vietnam Football Federation Youth Football Training Center (Hanoi) with 24 players. In addition to the newly added young faces such as Chuong Thi Kieu, Vu Thi Nhung, Bui Thi Lan, Nguyen Thi Mai, Pham Hoang Quynh and Nguyen Thi Nguyet, the Vietnamese women's team will also welcome the return of two veteran players, midfielder Tran Thi Kim Hong and steel center back Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, after a long absence due to injury.

According to the plan, the Vietnamese women's team will move to Tam Dao on August 6 to train their physical strength for a week. After this training session, coach Tran Van Phat and his team will return to the Vietnam Football Federation Youth Football Training Center on August 14.

During the training period here, the Vietnamese women's team is expected to have three friendly matches with the U-14 Hanoi T&T, U-14 Hanoi and U-14 Viettel teams before leaving for training in Kunming (China) on August 31. Here, the Vietnamese women's team will have two friendly matches with the U-14 Kunming team before flying straight to Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for the AFF Cup 2012.

The 2012 AFF Cup takes place from September 13 to 22. The Vietnamese women's team is in Group A with Myanmar, Singapore and the Philippines. Group B includes Thailand, Laos, Indonesia and Malaysia. In the 2011 tournament in Laos, Thailand beat Myanmar 2-1 to win the runner-up title.
