Congress of Delegates of Quynh Luu District Farmers' Association, term X, 2012-2017

(Baonghean.vn) - This morning, July 20, Quynh Luu district opened the 10th Congress of the District Farmers' Association, term 2012-2017. Attending and directing the Congress were comrade Lu Kim Duyen - Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association, Provincial Party Committee member, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association and representatives of the leaders of the Provincial Association's committees; together with representatives of the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front and departments, offices, unions, agencies and units located in the district.

This is a Congress directed by the Provincial Farmers' Association with the participation of leaders of Farmers' Associations of 19 districts, cities and towns in the whole province.

Overview of the Congress

Over the past five years, implementing the Resolution of the 9th Congress of the District Farmers' Association, the cadres and members of the Quynh Luu District Farmers' Association have strived to achieve important results, basically meeting and exceeding the targets set by the Congress. During the term, the Association admitted 8,021 more members, bringing the total number of members to 48,004, raising the rate of farmers joining the Association to 85.7%, an increase of 8.7% compared to the previous term, an increase of 0.7% compared to the set target. 100% of the grassroots associations and branches have funds of 3,236 million VND, of which the commune association fund is 998 million VND, the branch association fund is 2,238 million VND, the commune has the highest association fund of 267 million VND, the branch association has the highest fund balance of 79 million VND (Phu Lien Quynh Long branch), from the Association's fund, it has promptly met the Association's activities and the farmers' movement.

Promoting 3 emulation movements launched by the Central Vietnam Farmers' Union, attracting thousands of households to register for emulation in good production and business, uniting to help each other eliminate hunger, reduce poverty and enrich themselves legitimately, up to now, 6,226 households have achieved the title of good production and business at all levels, an increase of 2,626 households compared to the beginning of the term. To help members proactively invest in production, the association at all levels has secured loans from banks and businesses for farmers of over 150,497 million VND and over 7 tons of various types of fertilizers. In addition, the Association also manages projects and the Central and Provincial Farmers' Support Fund with a total amount of over 1,691 billion VND; mobilizing idle money from the people to build a fund to support farmers in 18 communes, with an amount of 42 billion VND invested in lending to farmers for economic development. Mobilizing cadres and members to practice thrift and donate to help 32 poor households repair and build houses, and 44 poor households in coastal areas build sanitary facilities, with a total amount of 173 million VND.

During the past term, 210 union officials were awarded the Commemorative Medal for the Farmer Class by the Central Union, 8 collectives and individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Central Union; the District Farmers' Union was awarded the Flag of the leading unit in the emulation movement in 2008 - 2009 by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Excellent Labor Collective for 2 consecutive years in 2010 - 2011 and 6 Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals. In particular, at this Congress, the District Farmers' Union was honored to receive the Flag of Excellent Unit for 5 years 2007 - 2011 by the Central Union of Vietnam Farmers' Union.

The Congress elected 39 new Executive Committee members and 20 official delegates to attend the 8th Congress of Nghe An Provincial Farmers' Association, term 2013-2018.
