Vietnam - Laos community program cooperates in investment and environmental protection

(Baonghean.vn) -In response to the Vietnam - Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2012, this morning, August 2, in Cua Lo town (Nghe An), the Laos - Cambodia Economic Cooperation Development Association (VILACED) and the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment held a workshop on "Vietnam - Laos Community Program for Cooperation in Investment and Environmental Protection". Attending the workshop were representatives of the Embassy of the Lao PDR in Vietnam, central ministries, departments and branches; representatives of Ha Tinh province. On the side of Nghe An province, there was comrade Thai Van Hang - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of provincial departments, branches and branches and Vietnamese and Lao enterprises.

The Vietnam-Laos community program of cooperation in investment and environmental protection includes the following activities: Hanoi - Nghe An - Vientiane (Laos) bicycle journey; workshop and tree planting "Vietnam-Laos community of cooperation in investment and environmental protection".

Attending the workshop, delegates listened to presentations on the following topics: Green economic development strategy in Vietnam; Vietnam and Laos join hands to protect the environment and develop sustainably; Integrating climate change issues into laws and policies on investment management.

The workshop was an opportunity for the overseas Vietnamese community and Vietnamese businesses investing and doing business in Laos and the Lao people to witness a specific activity in response to the “Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2012”, contributing to strengthening the solidarity and friendship between the people of the two countries and understanding more about the activities of the Laos-Cambodia Economic Cooperation Development Association (VILACED) and the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment. Through the exchange activities, the Lao-Vietnamese people community was more fully aware of the meaning and tasks of investment cooperation and environmental protection in the cooperative relationship between the two countries.

In his welcome speech at the conference, comrade Thai Van Hang affirmed that throughout the history of the struggles against foreign invaders and the building of the country, Laos and Vietnam have always stood side by side, becoming loyal and steadfast friends, with pure international sentiment and special brotherhood. He congratulated the achievements of Laos in various fields in recent years and considered them his own victories. Over the past decades, Nghe An has done its best to build and foster special solidarity and friendship and comprehensive cooperation with the Lao PDR and neighboring Lao provinces. Nghe An province highly appreciates the support and cooperation of the Lao Government, provinces and enterprises for Nghe An province.

The workshop held in Cua Lo town is an opportunity for the locality to better understand the contents of the workshop on investment in sustainable socio-economic development, environmental protection, and climate change response, thereby better understanding the significance and tasks of investment cooperation and environmental protection in the friendly cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Laos.
