The pinnacle of Dan Lai's teacher-student collaboration.
In 1997, in Hai Son 1 village, Mon Son commune (Con Cuong district), Dan Lai, also known as La Thi Duyen, was a diligent girl from a young age. When she was in the 4th grade, her parents divorced, and Duyen and her sister lived with their mother. Feeling sorry for her mother's struggles to raise and educate them alone, Duyen always told herself she had to be well-behaved and study hard to repay her mother's efforts. Throughout her primary school years, Duyen consistently ranked first in her class and continuously achieved the title of "Outstanding Student" at Mon Son Primary School.

Throughout her primary school years, Duyen consistently ranked first in her class and continuously achieved the title of "Outstanding Student" at Mon Son Primary School.
When Duyen entered secondary school, her family moved to the town, and she passed the entrance exam to Tra Lan Secondary School. She continued to achieve high scores and consistently ranked among the top students in her class. Duyen excelled in all subjects, with Civic Education being her favorite. While other students considered it a "minor subject" and paid little attention to it, Duyen was passionate about it. She shared: "I remember President Ho Chi Minh once said, 'Talent without virtue is useless. Virtue without talent makes everything difficult.'"
First of all, to become a useful person and an active citizen, one must have virtue and live in accordance with the constitution and laws. This subject provides us with the necessary knowledge to become a good citizen…”. Besides absorbing the knowledge from textbooks and the teacher's lectures, Duyen also related what she had learned to real-life situations. Therefore, in the 2011-2012 district-level excellent student competition, Duyen won first prize in Civic Education and earned the title of Provincial Excellent Student in this subject. She was also the first provincial-level excellent student from the Dan Lai ethnic group.
In the recent 10th grade entrance exam, Duyen scored 27.5 points (3 subjects). She applied to the Provincial Ethnic Boarding High School with the dream of going to university after graduating from high school and becoming a doctor to treat the people of Dan Lai village. “I feel lucky that my mother gave me a proper education. I am proud to be from Dan Lai, a place known for its diligence, hard work, and intelligence. With proper care and investment, we can achieve anything. If other children also have enough food, warm clothes, and a good education, they will surely be successful too…”
