In the last days of August, preparations for the new school year at Dung Hop Primary School (Tan Ky district) were underway with great enthusiasm and dedication from both teachers and students. The school was carrying out repairs and renovations to all classrooms, the administrative building, and the schoolyard.

Principal Hoang Van Hien said: to prepare for the new school year, the school has focused on renovating classrooms, auxiliary facilities, and the schoolyard to ensure the best possible conditions for students' learning. In addition, the school has informed parents and students about the number of books, notebooks, and school supplies that need to be prepared. Out of the school's 539 students, 38 are from very disadvantaged backgrounds, 115 are from poor households, and 120 are from ethnic minorities. The school, in collaboration with the local authorities and the Education Promotion Association, has provided assistance with books and clothing for these students, encouraging them to attend school for the new academic year. Examples include Lan Van Thi (4B), Nguyen Thi Ngoc (5B), and Dao Van Toan (5A). For first-grade students attending school for the first time, alongside explaining the rules and regulations, the teachers diligently help them adapt to the new environment, such as guiding them on how to salute the flag, practice singing the national anthem, and sit in the correct positions.

However, as a school located in a mountainous area, it has 22 classrooms across 4 school sites, including one in a remote village. The school's spread over 10km creates difficulties for students' commutes and school management. Furthermore, some classroom construction projects are unfinished, forcing students to attend classes at the secondary school and the village community center.
As a national standard school, in the 2012-2013 academic year, the school had 37 staff members, including 27 teachers, 1 student team leader, 4 administrators, 1 security guard, and 1 support staff member. One of the important preparations for the new academic year was to further strengthen the teaching staff. During the summer months, the school facilitated opportunities for teachers to participate in training and professional development courses to enhance their skills and innovate teaching methods to suit different student groups.

To ensure the holistic development of students, in addition to the main curriculum, this school year students will participate in extracurricular activities such as music, art, and sports. Simultaneously, the integration of environmental protection education and character education into the curriculum will also be emphasized. The school currently faces a shortage of teachers in English and Music; therefore, the immediate priority is to contract teachers for these two subjects.
In the 2012-2013 school year, Dung Hop Primary School will continue to innovate its management practices, build a "friendly school, active students," improve the quality of teaching and learning, and strive to achieve the target of 30% excellent students and 50% good students.
