On May 29, 2012, the Prime Minister approved the project "Vietnam Family Development Strategy".Maleby 2020, vision to 2030".

The general goal that the Strategy aims for is to build Vietnamese families.Maleprosperity, progress, happiness, truly a home for each person, a healthy cell of society. The strategy sets out three major goals, of which the goal of inheriting and promoting the good traditional values ​​of the Vietnamese family, selectively absorbing advanced family values ​​in a developed society; fully implementing the rights and responsibilities of family members, especially towards children, the elderly, pregnant women, women raising young children... is an important goal. The strategy also sets out the target of striving to reach 85% by 2015 and 95% by 2020 for households to spend time caring for and educating their children and grandchildren, creating conditions for their children and grandchildren to develop comprehensively in terms of physical, intellectual, moral and spiritual aspects. Strive to have 85% of households taking care of and supporting their grandparents, parents, pregnant women, and children by 2015 and 95% by 2020...

The strategy also sets out the goal of raising awareness of the role, position, and responsibility of families and communities in effectively implementing policies, guidelines, and laws on marriage and family, gender equality, preventing domestic violence, and preventing social evils from entering the family. Every year, on average, the number of households with domestic violence and households with members suffering from social evils will decrease by 10-15%...

According to Ms. Tran Tuyet Anh - Head of the Family Department (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), the Prime Minister's approval of the Vietnam Family Development Strategy is an important legal basis for building a prosperous and happy Vietnamese family. According to Ms. Anh, the targets set out in this Strategy have been consulted with provinces and cities across the country, central ministries and branches and will be implemented in each phase.

Regarding the issue of improving the quality of family relationships, Ms. Tran Tuyet Anh said that since the development of the Strategy, the Ministry has identified this as a very big issue in current family work. Currently, the Family Department is drafting a Government action plan on family work from now until 2015, including a national program on family life education, education of family members, emotions, child care, and care for the elderly. And to achieve this goal, the Ministry will develop a specific plan and action program each year to direct provinces and cities across the country to carry out a plan to propagate and educate about family ethics and lifestyle, gradually inheriting and promoting the good traditional values ​​of Vietnamese families, contributing to building a healthy and civilized society.
