Exchange between the group of authors of scientific and technological works and the people of Chau Binh commune (Quy Chau)

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 16, at the People's Committee of Chau Binh Commune (Quy Chau), the group of authors of the scientific and technological innovation project "Ban Mong reservoir" had an exchange with the people of Chau Binh Commune. Attending the exchange were representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Science and Technology, Ban Mong Project Management Board... and officials and people of Chau Binh Commune.



Engineer Nguyen Quang Hoa, head of the author group, presented Chau Binh commune with a summary of the creative topic.

In 2003, the State had a policy to invest in building Ban Mong reservoir. However, when the project was approved, Chau Binh commune was mostly located in the reservoir, so 773 households and 3,254 people had to be relocated, along with the infrastructure system of the commune also being submerged in water.

Identifying that the resettlement of people is difficult and complicated for the province as well as the locality and each person, the Center for Consulting on the Application of Science, Technology and Technology - Nghe An Irrigation Association, led by Mr. Nguyen Quang Hoa - Irrigation Engineer, has a creative scientific and technological topic, reducing the damage of resettlement, resettlement and infrastructure, improving the efficiency of the Ban Mong Reservoir project. That is the basic protection project solution for Chau Binh commune, called "Chau Binh auxiliary dam and drainage canal component".

After the project was deemed feasible, only 188 households had to be relocated, and most of the infrastructure was kept intact. This was an important result that helped local people continue to settle down and develop their socio-economy.

The scientific innovation project of the group of authors led by Engineer Nguyen Quang Hoa was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, and the Provincial People's Committee. The project won the special prize for scientific and technological innovation in Nghe An in 2011 and the third prize at the 11th National Technical Innovation Contest (2010-2011).
