Vietnam U19 team suffered its third consecutive loss
On the evening of September 6, at Thong Nhat Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City), the third round of the Southeast Asian U19 Football Tournament continued. After 90 minutes of play, the host team U19 Vietnam lost to U19 Uzbekistan with a score of 0-4.
Thus, this was the third consecutive loss of the Vietnam U19 team after two losses against Iran U19 (1-2) and Australia U19 (0-4).
Because there was no chance to compete for a place in the final match, in the formality match with U19 Uzbekistan, coach Mai Duc Chung let U19 Vietnam start with completely new faces compared to previous matches.

While the home team entered the match with the desire to gain confidence and gain international experience, the Uzbekistan team was forced to play with all their might to get a positive result to compete for a place in the final match. The U19 Uzbekistan players actively played long balls and made many high passes from both sides into the penalty area.
In the first minute of the match, from such a hanging situation, a player of U19 Uzbekistan jumped high to head the ball into the home team's net. But before that, Singaporean referee Aljaafari blew the whistle for this player for pressing. However, in the extra seconds at the end of the first half, it was the lack of concentration that caused U19 Vietnam to receive an unfortunate goal.
In the second half, coach Mai Duc Chung urged his players to push up their formation to find an equalizer. However, due to the decline in physical strength, it seemed impossible for the home team players to approach the goal of goalkeeper Akmal of Uzbekistan U19. While the high attack proved ineffective, the home team's defense also began to play unfocused. That was also the inevitable consequence leading to the goal that increased the score to 2-0 for Uzbekistan U19 in the 60th minute.
Seemingly powerless, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team could hardly compete with their opponents in terms of physical strength and alertness in playing style. Conceding two more goals from set pieces, coach Mai Duc Chung's players showed that there was still a lot to do if they wanted their playing style to be more effective. The two players who scored headers for the away team were Maksimilian (minute 80) and Abdul Aziz (minute 87).
In the previous match, U19 Iran showed their superior strength when they won 4-1 against U19 Australia. With this result, U19 Iran will compete in the final with U19 Uzbekistan; the host team U19 Vietnam will compete for third place with U19 Australia on September 8./.
