Iran threatened on July 4 to destroy US military bases across the Middle East and retaliate against Israel within minutes if attacked, Reuters reported, as Iran's Revolutionary Guards extended ballistic missile test firings for a third day.

"All those bases are within the range of our missiles and the occupied territories (of Israel) are also our 'delicious' targets," Amir Ali Haji Zadeh, commander of the Revolutionary Guards' aerospace division, was quoted by Fars news agency as saying.

According to Mr. Zadeh, 35 US bases are within range of Iran's ballistic missiles, the country's most advanced missiles that Iranian commanders claim can hit targets 2,000km away."

"We have considered setting up bases and deploying missiles to destroy all these (US) bases just minutes after being attacked," he said.

Israel has signaled that it could attack Iran if diplomatic efforts fail to end Tehran’s controversial nuclear program. The US has also discussed military action as a last resort, but has advised Israel to wait patiently for economic sanctions against Iran to take effect./.
