(Baonghean.vn) - This year, Dao Thi Thuy (in hamlet 4, Lang Thanh commune, Yen Thanh, Nghe An) is in grade 12 at Bac Yen Thanh High School. For the past 11 years of studying, she has always been an excellent student at the school level. Her family's circumstances are too difficult, her mother has congenital encephalitis combined with spinal degeneration, which is a burden and worry for her on the path of studying.

Visiting Dao Thi Thuy's family, we could not help but feel sad about the difficult situation of the mother and daughter. Thuy's mother, Dao Thi Nguyen, is just over 50 years old this year, looking miserable with a bewildered, incomprehensible face. Thuy confided: Mother has had encephalitis since birth, and when she grew up, she suffered from degenerative spine disease. In 2000, grandparents and siblings temporarily built a 2-room house for mother and daughter to live separately. Mother is sick and cannot do heavy work, the family has 2 fields of rice, and every crop she has to ask her siblings to help. She herself knows that her family is in difficulty, many times she wanted to drop out of school to work to help her mother, but her mother did not let her drop out, and always encouraged her to go to school. Every year she brought home a certificate of "excellent student" from the school, so her mother was very happy. In the 2010-2011 school year, she went to grade 11, at the end of the school year she won 3rd prize in Math and 3rd prize in Geography at the school level.

Thuy said: Because of the difficult family circumstances, the livelihood of the two mother and child depends on the mother's disability allowance of 180 thousand VND/month, so I do not have the conditions to study extra. Therefore, the general knowledge I have is completely self-taught. Outside of school hours, I study on my own in books at home, studying until late at night every night before going to bed.

Mrs. Nguyen Phan added: Our family is poor and cannot afford an electric fan. It is so hot in the summer, but my child still studies with the lamp on from dinner until late at night. I am happy to see my child studying hard. But when he enters 12th grade and takes the university entrance exam, even if he passes, I will not have money to support him.

Mrs. Nguyen explained: Because of my poor health, I cannot do anything. Luckily, I raise a few chickens, so life is difficult and lacking all year round. In 2007, seeing the house of mother and child in disrepair, with a leaky thatched roof, the local government supported labor and materials to repair and tile the roof. Last year, the Fatherland Front of the commune bought mother and child a color TV, but there were no other valuable items.

When asked about her aspirations, Thuy said: I will try to pass the entrance exam to a university, but because my family's circumstances are too difficult, I intend to take the entrance exam to a military school. If I pass, my mother will have less trouble.

Thuy's good nature and good academic results are a joy for Mrs. Nguyen, but then there is a constant worry that weighs heavily on her life: how can she support her child to continue on the path of studying and making a career?

I hope that the community and kind-hearted people can share and help Dao Thi Nguyen and her children!
