Historian Duong Trung Quoc speaks at the conference
The basic content of this Workshop continues to mention the current situation of teaching and learning History in high schools, thereby analyzing the causes and proposing solutions to improve the quality of education and revive History in the general education system.
Delegates from Nghe An Province attended the Workshop and gave a presentation. Through their presentation, the Nghe An delegation made three recommendations. Firstly, it is recommended that the Ministry of Education and Training discuss and decide that History should be a compulsory subject in the high school graduation exam. This is one of the most important solutions to improve the quality of History teaching. Secondly, in order to encourage, motivate and create interest in students, the Ministry needs to have more timely and appropriate policies for rewarding and rewarding students who achieve high scores in History in university entrance exams and national excellent students. Thirdly, the first and most core issue to comprehensively change the quality of History teaching is the need to change the perception and assessment of the position and role of History in high schools as a science subject and not consider History as a "secondary subject".
Affirming the role and position of History at the end of the Workshop, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Vinh Hien concluded: "Among the subjects, History is the subject with the most advantage in teaching letters and people."
