(Baonghean)Many people in Nam Tan (Nam Dan) admire the family of Mr. Tran Van Danh and Mrs. Thai Thi Thanh (Hamlet 6) for raising four children and providing them with a good education.

Their eldest daughter, Tran Thi My, is a student at Hue University of Medicine; their second son studies at Da Nang University of Technology; their third son, Tran Van Manh, was the valedictorian of the Police Academy in 2011; and their youngest child is an excellent student in class 11A1 at Nam Dan 1 High School. The couple toiled year-round in the fields and livestock farming, saving every grain of rice and every potato to provide for their children's education. Mr. Danh shared: “Four children have gone on to university, one after another. It’s been hard and difficult, but no matter what, we are determined to support our children’s education to the end…” And Mr. Danh and Mrs. Thanh’s family has become a shining example of the spirit of learning in this purely agricultural region.

The Nam Dan Association for the Promotion of Learning awarded prizes to outstanding students.

Recognizing that each family serves as a model for promoting learning and talent, contributing to building a learning society and lifelong learning, the Nam Dan Association for the Promotion of Learning has mobilized and promoted the movement of promoting learning and valuing education in families and clans, linking it with movements to build cultural villages, cultural families, and the movement for national unity in building a cultural life in residential areas, as well as the New Rural Development movement. The Association has issued a specialized resolution on promoting learning and talent, thoroughly disseminating and implementing the campaign to build studious families and studious clans to every block, hamlet, agency, school, armed forces unit, and enterprise; simultaneously, it has concretized the criteria for studious families so that everyone can understand and have a direction to strive for.

Based on this, families also encourage their children to study, fostering a love of learning, and promptly rewarding and motivating students who achieve academic success, overcome difficulties, and excel in their studies. A prime example is the family of Mr. Vo Duc Phong and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Sam (Dan Nhiem Hamlet, Nam Dan Town), who established a family scholarship fund called "Vo Anh Scholarship Fund," annually awarding scholarships to their children and grandchildren who excel in their studies and achieve high academic results.

From 2008 to the present, the family's scholarship fund has raised nearly 60 million VND, rewarding dozens of children and grandchildren. Thanks to encouragement and traditional education, the children and grandchildren in the family have followed in the footsteps of their predecessors, striving in their studies and work. Among the 77 children and grandchildren, 39 have university degrees, 8 have master's degrees, and 1 has a doctorate. Another example is the family scholarship fund of Ms. Hoang Thi Ty (Kim Lien), which has raised over 75 million VND…

In addition, the movement to establish family-based scholarship committees has also developed strongly. Out of a total of 258 family-based scholarship committees, 70 are outstanding. Family-based groups such as the Vo family (Township), the Nguyen Sinh family (Kim Lien), and the Bui Danh family (Xuan Hoa)... mobilize hundreds of millions of dong annually for scholarship funds, and the award ceremonies are held on the Ancestor Worship Day, conducted in a systematic and solemn manner. Mr. Vo Duc Phong, head of the Vo clan's scholarship committee (Nam Dan town), said: "The clan's scholarship fund is always at 70 million VND, and the recipients are descendants who have achieved success in their studies, work, and production. In the atmosphere of honoring our ancestors, in the presence of hundreds of descendants, being recognized, honored, and receiving awards is an unparalleled honor. Along with the awards are the clan's scholarship badges, to always remind us that, bearing the Vo surname, whether we are students, civil servants, workers, or farmers, we must all strive to become excellent individuals..."

To date, the entire district has 18,632 families dedicated to education and 258 clans promoting education. The movement to build families dedicated to education in Nam Dan is gradually becoming a new cultural feature in the community, creating a sustainable foundation for poverty reduction and building prosperous families and a beautiful homeland.
