According to Xinhua News Agency, Yemen's Interior Ministry said that on October 11, al-Qaeda terrorist suspects murdered Qasim Aklan, Yemeni director in charge of investigating terrorism-related activities at the US embassy and senior security coordinator between the Yemeni government and the US embassy in the capital Sana'a.

A ministry official confirmed: "Qasim Aklan was assassinated on the morning of October 11 on a street near the compound of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi."

Recently, Yemen has been hit by a series of assassinations of officials. On the evening of October 5, Ziyad al-Qadhi, a leader of the General People's Congress (GPC) party of former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, was killed in an ambush on the outskirts of the capital Sana'a.

A week earlier, four GPC officials were also killed in a similar ambush on the outskirts of Sana'a. However, the GPC did not accuse any faction of being behind the above attacks./.
