Awarding scholarships to poor but good students

(Baonghean) - On the morning of September 23, the Quynh Luu Association for the Promotion of Education in coordination with the Cultural Committee of Quynh Hoa Commune (Quynh Luu) organized a scholarship award ceremony for Lieutenant General Le Nam Phong.

Lieutenant General Le Nam Phong was born into a poor family in Quynh Hoa commune - Quynh Luu. He participated as a commander in the army during the two resistance wars against the French and the Americans to save the country. After retiring in Ho Chi Minh City, he invested 100 million VND in the Commune's Association for the Promotion of Education in 2007 by depositing it in Viet Ha Company in Ho Chi Minh City to annually use the interest of 15 million VND to reward and grant scholarships to children from policy families and poor households who strive to study well.

Together with the Scholarship Fund, Quynh Hoa commune awarded nearly 100 students and teachers with achievements in studying and teaching with a total amount of 16 million VND.

* On the afternoon of September 21, the Association for Promotion of Education and the Department of Education and Training of Thai Hoa Town organized a ceremony to award 65 scholarships from Nghe An Sugar Factory - Tate & Lyte worth 23 million VND to poor students who overcame difficulties and achieved many good results in the past school year.
