Opening ceremony of Cultural Week "Nghe An Buddhism accompanies the nation"

(Baonghean.vn) -On the afternoon of August 12, 2012, at the Labor Culture House - Vinh City, the Central Cultural Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and the Executive Committee of Nghe An Province's Buddhism organized the opening ceremony of the Cultural Week "Nghe An Buddhism accompanies the nation".

Attending the ceremony, on the side of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, there were Most Venerable Thich Thien Duyen - member of the Central Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Thich Thanh Nhieu - Permanent Vice President of the Central Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha - Head of the Buddhist Executive Committee of Nghe An province and representatives of the Venerables, the Central Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. On the side of the Central Committee, there were Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Major General Le Dinh Luyen - Director of the Department of Social Security - Ministry of Public Security, Nguyen Quoc Tuan - Director of the Institute of Religious Studies - Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences. On the side of the provincial leaders, there were comrade Thai Van Hang - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, departments, branches and a large number of monks and nuns inside and outside the province.



Comrade Thai Van Hang - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee spoke at the ceremony.



On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee, and Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, comrade Thai Van Hang presented a beautiful flower basket to the Organizing Committee of the Buddhist Cultural Week.



The monks and nuns performed the ceremony before the official ceremony.



Buddhists view the photo exhibition "Vietnamese Pagoda"

The Buddhist Cultural Week with the theme "Nghe An Buddhism accompanies the nation" is jointly organized by the Central Cultural Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, the Executive Committee of Nghe An Province's Buddhism and the Institute of Religious Studies from today, August 12 to August 18, 2012. This is one of the cultural activities to welcome the 7th National Buddhist Congress in Hanoi. The Buddhist Cultural Week in Nghe An is the largest ever with many rich activities such as: presentations, lectures, scientific seminars, film screenings, art photo exhibitions, flower lantern festivals to pray for national peace and prosperity, vegetarian food festivals, Vu Lan festivals to show gratitude, awarding scholarships to studious students, sightseeing tours...

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Comrade Thai Van Hang - Member of the Standing Committee - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the preparation as well as the meaningful purpose and importance of the Buddhist Cultural Week. At the same time, he affirmed the attention of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee, and Provincial Fatherland Front Committee to the development of Buddhism in recent times, especially creating conditions for the restoration of pagodas, ensuring that people's religious activities take place smoothly, in accordance with the Constitution and laws, in line with the development trend in the new era.

After the opening ceremony of the Buddhist Cultural Week, the photo exhibition "Vietnamese Pagoda" with 108 photos by photographers nationwide opened, opening the series of activities of the "Buddhist Cultural Week" in Nghe An.
