Pocketing 1 million pounds/month, will Lampard go to China?
According to Chinese press, two giants in the Chinese Super League, Shanghai Shenhua and Beijing Guoan, are looking to recruit Frank Lampard and are willing to pay the Chelsea vice-captain a huge salary of £1 million/month (after tax).
Despite being on the other side of his career, Lampard has recently received many offers from big clubs around the world. According to the British press, Shanghai Shenhua and Beijing Guoan have sent people to contact the Chelsea midfielder to negotiate a very lucrative contract.
If he agrees to join a Chinese Super League giant, Lampard will receive a post-tax salary of up to £250,000/week (equivalent to £1 million/month). Not only that, both Shanghai Shenhua and Beijing Guoan are willing to sign a contract with Chelsea's vice-captain for at least 3 years. That means Lampard will pocket £36 million within 3 years.
Obviously, this is an attractive offer for Lampard. After years of fighting in top football, it is time for Lampard to consider retirement. Lampard's old contract with the Stamford Bridge team will expire in June next year. Thus, this 34-year-old midfielder can freely decide his future next January.
A few days ago, there was information that The Blues' Board of Directors was negotiating a new contract with Lampard, but it seemed that things were not going smoothly. Specifically, Chelsea only wanted to extend one year at a time with players over 30 years old, while "The Lungless Man" wanted a contract of at least 2 years.
