(Baonghean.vn) -On the afternoon of August 20th, at the Military Region 4 Cultural Center, the representative office of the People's Army Publishing House in Da Nang City and the People's Army Newspaper organized a book launch for Colonel Vo Van Minh's new book: "His Name Will Live On in the Battlefield." Attendees included Colonel and journalist Le Anh Dung from the People's Army Publishing House; representatives from the Propaganda Department of Military Region 4, the Military Command of Nghe An Province, Vinh University, and various media outlets.

The author, Colonel Vo Van Minh, speaks at the book launch ceremony.
Colonel Vo Van Minh (the author of the book) is originally from Binh Trieu (Thang Binh district, Quang Nam province), and relocated to the North in 1954-1955. Later, due to mission requirements, he stayed to fight and study in the battlefields of Military Region 4. During those years, Military Region 4 (especially the two provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh) became his second home. As he confided at the book launch: “I came to Nghe An when I was 17 years old, so this land has become a part of my blood and flesh. Meeting people from Nghe An is like meeting fellow countrymen; there is no place in Nghe An and Ha Tinh that I haven't been to. What I remember most about Nghe An is the years of the war against the Americans.” Therefore, he wrote many articles about the land and people of Nghe An, their resilience and courage during the war against the Americans. Nghe An, through the writings of a son of Quang Nam, remains deeply affectionate, affectionate, and profoundly meaningful. That's because he truly experienced, understood, sacrificed, and suffered losses throughout much of his life.
Colonel Vo Van Minh published many books, including: "How Can We Forget?", "International Soldier"; "Uncle Ho's Soldiers Kostas Sarantidis - Nguyen Van Lap"... and numerous articles published in major newspapers during the war.

Book cover
The book "His Name Lives On in the Fiery Bag" is a collection of 17 articles previously published in the People's Army Newspaper, Tien Phong Newspaper, and military propaganda magazines... Besides one article by Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Hoa - former Commander and Political Commissar of Military Region 4, and two other articles by Vu Ky Lan - Nguyen Sinh, and Thu Ha; the remaining 14 articles are all by author Vo Van Minh.
The writings about a time of intense fighting only depict very small aspects of the just war of the entire nation, in which the army and people of Zone Four were an inseparable part. Though small, the scope of what the author portrays reflects the spirit of a time of "Crossing the Truong Son Mountains to save the country," heroic and courageous. One can cite the names of a few articles and stories to show how the author viewed the sacred resistance from extremely detailed yet grand perspectives: "The girl from Vinh Giang who was a skilled shooter"; "Uncle Ho capturing an enemy pilot"; "Eating rice on the North bank, fighting the enemy on the South bank"; "Destroying the enemy on Long Son land"...
Speaking at the book launch, Colonel, Journalist, and Poet Le Anh Dung (People's Army Publishing House) affirmed: "He doesn't tell his own life story, only the stories of others, but Vo Van Minh's writings in this book seem to help him and his comrades rediscover themselves in their youthful years. The book also serves as a bridge for today's young generation to reconnect with the past, to reflect on the era of their ancestors, and to learn how to live in a way that is worthy of those who came before." The book is 96 pages long and was published by the People's Army Publishing House in 2012.

The author donated books to the armed forces units of Military Region 4.
On this occasion, author Vo Van Minh also donated the book "His Name Will Live On in the Battlefield" to the libraries of Military Region 4, the Nghe An Provincial Military Command, the Ha Tinh Provincial Military Command, and Vinh University.
