Vinh Airport (Nghe An) has been in operation for quite a long time, but due to planning since 2000, it has become inadequate. Although it has been invested in upgrading, expanding and building infrastructure works such as runways, terminals, parking lots, etc., it still cannot meet the increasing demand of passengers and is now overloaded.

(Baonghean.vn) -Vinh Airport (Nghe An) has been in operation for quite a long time, but due to planning since 2000, it has become inadequate. Although it has been invested in upgrading, expanding and building infrastructure works such as runways, terminals, parking lots, etc., it still cannot meet the increasing demand of passengers and is now overloaded.

We were present at Vinh Airport Terminal this afternoon, November 18, and there were nearly 1,000 passengers checking in to go to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, while the current capacity can only accommodate 300 to 500 passengers per day.

Hundreds of passengers waited in line for hours to check in at Vinh airport terminal.

Currently, Vinh airport has 6 flights to Ho Chi Minh City and 2 flights to Hanoi every day. In addition, there are 4 to 6 flights to Da Nang and 4 flights to Buon Ma Thuot every week. Thus, Vinh airport has 22 flights to and from with about 2,000 passengers every day. The terminal is cramped so passengers have to wait in line for a long time to check in, which has caused chaos and frustration.

It is known that the Aviation Corporation, Ministry of Transport has a project to upgrade and expand Vinh airport and build a new terminal. However, due to many reasons, the project is being implemented too slowly, while the number of passengers is increasing day by day. In the near future, Vinh airport is expected to open a number of new routes. Thus, the average number of passengers per day will reach nearly 3,000.

Crowded, overloaded and accompanied by unnecessary troubles in infrastructure, food service, environmental sanitation. Not to mention the fact that passengers want to buy souvenirs at Vinh airport but cannot find a place to buy them. I wonder how long it will take for Vinh airport to have a spacious, modern and civilized infrastructure!
