Egypt is concerned that Salafi Islamist extremist groups in the Sinai Peninsula could launch attacks from the border area with Israel in the coming days, possibly targeting its security forces.

Earlier, the official Palestinian news agency Maan said that Islamic Jihad groups in Sinai, especially al-Tawhid wal-Jihad al-Ansar Beit Makdas, could seek revenge against Israel from Egyptian territory or organize car bombs near Egyptian military sites in the North Sinai region./.
