Japan conducts mock military exercises against China

On August 21, the Japan Self-Defense Forces and the US Marine Corps officially began a military exercise on Guam and Tenian Island that will last from August 21 to September 26, Kyodo News reported.

“However, this exercise is different from previous exercises, in that the goal of this island defense exercise is to simulate the Diaoyu/Senkaku Islands being attacked and occupied by the Chinese military. After that, the Japanese military recaptures the islands,” said an official of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces.

This is the first time Japan has participated in a field island defense exercise. The Japanese Self-Defense Forces will coordinate with the US 3rd Army Expeditionary Force (3MEF) in this exercise.

The Japan Ground Self-Defense Force will dispatch 15 brigades from the city.Naha, Okinawa Prefecture and a unit of the CitySasebo, consciousNagasakiwith 40 soldiers participating in the exercise.


The content of this exercise includes the use of landing ships, attack helicopters, and civilian relief work.
