Vietnam Peace Committee delegation visits Laos

The delegation of the Vietnam Peace Committee was led by Mr. Uong Chu Luu, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Peace Committee.

On the afternoon of October 1, in the capital Vientiane, Politburo member and Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly, Ms. Pany Yathotu warmly received a delegation of the Vietnam Peace Committee led by Mr. Uong Chu Luu, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Peace Committee, who is visiting Laos.

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu informed the Chairman of the Lao National Assembly about the results of the talks with the Lao Peace Committee. The two sides reached many consensuses in areas of mutual interest.

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu also reported on some results of the activities of the Vietnamese National Assembly such as the legislative, judicial and supervisory work of the National Assembly. The role and function of the National Assembly in supervising state management and social management activities, contributing to the development of the country.

Lao National Assembly Chairwoman Pany Yathotu highly appreciated the working visit of the delegation of the Vietnam Peace Committee and emphasized the importance of maintaining a peaceful and stable environment in the region; highlighted the active role of the Peace Committees of each country; and affirmed the determination to build the two countries increasingly prosperous, prosperous and happy under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.

The delegation's visit and work in Laos coincides with the two countries' intensifying activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Comprehensive Cooperation Treaty; especially at a time when Laos is honored to host two major international conferences, ASEP7 and ASEM9.

Also on this occasion, the Vietnam Peace Committee was honored to receive the Friendship Medal and the noble Medal for Peace and Development awarded by the Lao Party and State./.
