(Baonghean) -When mentioning the person who successfully built 3 national standard schools in the locality, most teachers in Anh Son know that it is Meritorious Teacher Nguyen Trong Dai.

Born in Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province, but teacher Nguyen Trong Dai has been attached to Anh Son land for over 30 years. In 1979, after graduating from Ha Tinh Pedagogical College, he was assigned to Long Son Secondary School (Anh Son). After three years of working here, he was honored to join the ranks of the Communist Party of Vietnam and was recognized as an excellent teacher at the provincial level. After that, he was promoted to Vice Principal of Phuc Son Secondary School, a key school of the district. After the school was separated, he was promoted to Principal of Phuc Son Primary School. At that time, the school was located on a high hill, far from the commune center. Teacher Dai consulted with local leaders to move the school to the central area so that students and teachers could travel conveniently. All staff and teachers spent the whole summer months scraping and cleaning each brick to build the school. With a new, spacious school, he encouraged teachers and students to teach well and study well and took advantage of all the help from the Party Committee, government and commune organizations. Thanks to that, the school's primary education quality is always at the top of the district and has achieved excellent progress. In the 1999-2000 school year, the school achieved National Standard Level 1 and achieved Provincial Cultural Unit.

In the 2000-2001 school year, Mr. Dai was assigned by the Department of Education to be the Principal of Thach Son Primary School. The difficulty here was that the school facilities were degraded, the level 4 houses were covered with corrugated iron, the school yard was low and high in some places. There were 400 students, of which 1/3 were children of parishioners, on important holidays the students were absent from school, some even dropped out of school halfway. Faced with that situation, Mr. Dai met with the parish council, met with the priest to exchange ideas, made a list of students who dropped out of school so that the priest could remind the parishioners during the ceremonies. He assigned the homeroom teachers to go to the homes of the students who dropped out to return to school. Thanks to that, the situation of students dropping out of school arbitrarily was no longer. He also advised the Party Committee and the government to organize meetings and award students who were children of parishioners who were good students, or poor families who had strived to study well in order to encourage and motivate them to study hard.

To build a national standard school, he proposed to the commune government to arrange for the presiding cadres, heads of departments, parents' association, and hamlet chiefs to visit and study national standard schools in the town and Phuc Son. Seeing and hearing with their own eyes, the Thach Son government officials all joined in. The collective of enthusiastic teachers gradually completed the criteria, competing to teach well and study well. Many benefactors voluntarily contributed to the construction of the school, including priest Nguyen Sy Huong who supported the school with 100 sets of student desks and chairs. Two years later, Thach Son Primary School achieved the title of cultural unit and achieved National Standard level 1, and in 2008 achieved National Standard level 2.

In the 2010-2011 school year, Mr. Dai was transferred to Long Son Primary School. This is a large commune with a large population. The commune has 4 separate locations outside the center, each location is 3-4km apart, with Khe village location being over 10km away.

When Mr. Dai first arrived, the school was still under construction, the remote locations were degraded, lacked playgrounds, and had no school gates. He advised the commune to launch a socialized education campaign to raise money to invest in building schools. From many different sources of contributions, the school built 75 new sets of desks and chairs, repaired 100 others, the 200m2 school yard was paved with cement, 2 school gates were spacious and majestic, flower beds and ornamental plants were always clean and beautiful, the school bought 18 more computers for teaching and learning, 50 office chairs, renovated 22 classrooms and functional rooms at the remote locations, and built 5 garages. Teaching and learning activities gradually became more organized. In previous school years, Long Son Primary School ranked 19th out of 22 schools in terms of educational quality, now it ranks 5th. In 2012, the school achieved National Standards at level 1, and was one of the top 5 primary schools in Anh Son. Head of the Department of Education and Training of Anh Son district, Mr. Nguyen Duc Vinh said: During 33 years of working in education in Anh Son district, Meritorious Teacher Nguyen Trong Dai has always been humble, learned, and overcome many difficulties. He is the only principal who has contributed to the successful construction of 3 national standard schools, namely Phuc Son Primary School, Thach Son Primary School, and Long Son Primary School.
