Bombing in Afghanistan, nearly 70 casualties

AFP news agency reported that on October 26, a suicide bombing targeted a mosque in Maymana city, capital of Faryab province in the north.

The bombing occurred as worshippers were performing Eid al-Adha prayers, killing at least 32 people and injuring 34.

Deputy Governor Abdul Satar Barez said the suicide bomber, dressed in police uniform, blew himself up at the crowded Eid Gah mosque.

As a result, 32 people were killed, including 17 civilians and 15 police and secret service agents. Faryab provincial police chief Abdul Khaliq Aqsai was among the injured.

Most of the Faryab provincial government officials were also present at the mosque, which was crowded on the first day of the four-day Eid festival./.
