Tuong Duong: Heavy rain causes landslides on Lam river banks

(Baonghean.vn) -During 3 days (August 23 to 26), prolonged heavy rain caused landslides in residential land and cropland of families living along Lam River in Hoa Dong block, Hoa Binh town, mountainous district of Tuong Duong, Nghe An.

Immediately after receiving the news, the Flood and Storm Prevention Command of Tuong Duong district went to the scene to inspect. The landslide area of ​​yards, bricks, walls, and fences of houses was over 30 square meters, the solid riverbank foundation was over 100 square meters, breaking, falling, and sweeping away many trees and crops of all kinds, the most serious were 3 households including:Mr. Vang Thanh Hai, Mr. Vang Hong Chuyen and Mr. Vang Kien Cuong, estimated damage of more than 100 million VND.



According to locals, the main cause is gold mining on the other side of the river, which has diverted the flow and caused landslides on the opposite bank.

Currently, the Flood and Storm Prevention Command of Tuong Duong district is directing the overcoming of consequences and compensation for damages to people.
