Tan Ky: Warmth of joy from a reunion

January 17, 2013 17:31

(Baonghean)Tan Ky District has 12 out of 22 communes and towns, and 56 hamlets inhabited by ethnic minorities, namely the Tho and Thai people. Over the years, the "Doing Many Good Deeds" movement has demonstrated the sense of responsibility of each citizen. Fifty-six people have been elected by the community as reputable and exemplary figures in all movements.

A respected figure in Tan Ky spoke at the meeting.

Recently, the Tan Ky District Party Committee organized a meeting and discussion with influential figures from ethnic minority communities. Each person's face reflected pride and a desire to convey information and suggestions from the people to the district leaders. Sitting next to me was Mr. Nguyen Ty Thanh, born in 1957, from Trung Do hamlet, Tan Hop commune.

Mr. Thanh was delighted: This is the fourth time he has been elected as a respected figure by the villagers. After each meeting like this, he understands much more about the Party's guidelines, the State's laws, and some new government policies for ethnic minorities, so he can share this information with his fellow villagers. Over the years, he has actively encouraged villagers to clean up the village roads and alleys, participate in the new rural development program, and support particularly disadvantaged families. In the past year, he has raised over 1 million VND in the village to support the Fund for the Poor, helping families in difficult circumstances and those suffering from illness.

Mr. Vi Van Chau, from Tan Son village, Huong Son commune, spoke with the reporter.

The oldest person present that day was Mr. Vi Van Chau, from Tan Son hamlet, Huong Son commune. Mr. Chau, now 82 years old, still looks healthy and agile. Every day, he meets with and guides people in applying scientific and technological advancements to production and livestock farming, bringing in higher incomes. He has helped four disadvantaged families with over 6 million VND to buy livestock. After three years, these four families have escaped poverty and have the means to purchase equipment and tools for production and economic development. In addition, he has directly encouraged five children who had dropped out of school due to difficult circumstances to return to class. Each person has concrete actions that benefit the community and society, affirming the important role of village elders and respected figures among the ethnic minorities in Tan Ky district.

Reputable individuals trust the leadership of the Party, the State, and the government at all levels, while also offering sincere suggestions to the district leaders regarding some local shortcomings, particularly the implementation of national programs and objectives on policies supporting family economic development.
