Seminar on the 53rd Anniversary of Vietnam Forestry Industry Traditional Day (November 28)
(Baonghean.vn) -This afternoon, November 25, the Forestry Sub-Department, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nghe An organized a seminar to celebrate the 53rd Anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnam Forestry Sector (November 28, 1959 - November 28, 2012).
Attending the event were comrades: Ho Ngoc Sy - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Nguyen Van Lap - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, units under the department and retired officials of the industry through the periods.
In recent years, identifying forest development as one of the strategic tasks for socio-economic development and ecological environment protection, ensuring community security for ethnic minorities in mountainous areas, the forestry sector has achieved many important results.
Comrade Ho Ngoc Sy praised the results that generations of forestry sector have achieved in recent years.
In 2012 alone, the industry has well organized the care and protection of existing forest areas of forestry units, carried out the second care for 2,785.96 hectares of forest, reaching 100% of the plan. The area of assigned forests was protected 100% of the plan. Forest fire prevention work was actively directed, the risk of forest fires was regularly warned, so since the beginning of the year, there have been no serious forest fires in the province. The area of newly planted forests in the whole province reached 103% of the assigned plan target, of which protective forests reached 100%. Seedlings for autumn forest planting have been proactively provided, the quantity and quality of seedlings are guaranteed...
Speaking at the seminar, comrade Ho Ngoc Sy praised the achievements and contributions of generations of forestry sector over the past years. Currently, the work of forest care and protection has improved, the implementation results always meet the set plan. However, the forestry sector still has a lot of work to do to develop the forest area; so that people, especially ethnic minorities, can live and connect with the forest in a sustainable way.
