(Baonghean.vn) -Although only in his 30s, Nguyen Viet Tu (in Quang Nhan hamlet, Quang Thanh commune) is called the “king of chickens” by the locals. His chicken farm is considered the largest in Yen Thanh district today.

The Commune Farmers' Association staff took us to visit the chicken farm of Mr. Nguyen Viet Tu and his wife on a day in mid-November. At that time, there were a number of customers driving cars to buy chickens, so Mr. Tu and his wife had a hard time delivering the goods to the customers.

On the 6-acre hillside plot, there are 3 chicken coops, each raising a generation of chickens. The chicken coops are covered with cement sheets, surrounded by B40 mesh, and covered with canvas, just airy enough in the summer and warm enough in the winter. Lime powder is sprinkled everywhere around the coop and from the entrance gate. He also bought a water pump and a chemical sprayer.

Nguyen Viet Tu was born in 1980, in Dien Trung commune (Dien Chau). In 2007, he married a woman from Quang Thanh and started a business here. The couple's life in the early years was difficult because they did not have a stable job. Today he worked as a construction worker, tomorrow he worked for another job, and it was not enough to cover expenses. With the thought that he had to do something on this land to be in charge of his own life. The land was large and high, so he immediately thought of raising meat chickens. But first of all, he had to have experience, because raising chickens often faced risks of disease. So he decided to work for some large chicken farms in the province. While working and learning from practical experience, he equipped himself with some experience in raising chickens. When he returned home, he did not invest in raising chickens right away, but built a small coop to experiment with raising them. Seeing that the chickens were growing well, in early 2010, he boldly discussed with his wife how to borrow capital to invest in a large-scale coop. The couple borrowed nearly 800 million VND from various sources of capital from their relatives and friends. With all that money, the couple built 3 chicken farms, each with an area of nearly 150 m2, and bought chickens and feed. Each farm raised from 2 to 2,500 chickens. The breed of chicken they chose to raise was purebred Luong Phuong chicken, bought in Hanoi.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Tu takes care of the chickens.

The price of a newly hatched chicken is 12,000 VND, after 60 days of raising with industrial feed, it reaches a weight of 1.3 - 1.5 kg/chicken. The current selling price of broiler chicken is 60,000 VND/kg. Raising 3 generations of chickens at the same time in 3 separate farms, so every month there are chickens for sale. Each batch sells 2,500 chickens, minus investment costs, the profit is not less than 20 million VND. His chickens are sold to customers in Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Hue provinces and the domestic market, supply cannot meet demand. When the chickens are 55 days old, he calls the customer, the customer drives a car to transport the chickens for sale.

To raise chickens successfully, according to Mr. Tu, the most important thing is to know how to prevent diseases and choose good breeds. In addition to regular vaccination, disinfectants must be sprayed continuously, sometimes once every two days, and lime powder must be sprinkled from the alley to the surrounding area of the barn.

In order to build a large chicken supplier for the domestic and foreign markets, recently, Mr. Tu and his wife have also supported over 10 families in Quang Thanh commune to raise chickens, by providing breeds, instructions on how to build barns, and disease prevention. Up to now, many families have had chicken farms, although the scale is not as large as his, but they have chickens for sale. The households raising chickens with him are very assured when he has built a fairly large chicken consumption network. Therefore, when any household has chickens for sale, he proactively contacts them to consume them promptly.
