300 kg turtle released back to the sea

While casting his net about 500m from shore, a fisherman in Ngu Thuy Trung commune, Le Thuy district, Quang Binh caught a large sea turtle weighing about 300kg.

Previously, on the morning of November 9, while collecting nets in the coastal area about 500m from the shore, Mr. Ngo Minh Hoa, in Ngu Thuy Trung commune, Le Thuy district, Quang Binh discovered a large and heavy sea turtle entangled in the fishing net. With the support of some other fishermen, this giant turtle was brought to shore to be removed from the net.


This sea turtle has a black shell and fins, is about 1.7m long from head to tail and is estimated to weigh over 300kg.

A giant turtle weighing over 300kg has been released back into the wild.

After hearing the news, the authorities of Ngu Thuy Trung commune and Le Thuy district People's Committee promptly arrived to mobilize fishermen to release turtles back into the sea to protect the natural environment.


Immediately after providing financial support for the net and some fishing gear of the fishermen who caught the turtle, the local authorities coordinated with veterinary forces, border guards and local people to release the turtle back into the sea.
