Tan Truong made a mistake, Vietnam team lost the opening match
The Vietnamese team had an unsatisfactory start to the 2012 VFF Cup when they lost 0-1 to Turkmenistan, after a regrettable mistake by Tan Truong.
The Vietnamese team will enter the 2012 VFF Cup with a match against Turkmenistan. This is considered an important "test" for the home team to confidently enter the 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup which will start next month in Thailand and Malaysia.
At the 2010 ASIAN Games, the Vietnam Olympic team had the opportunity to face the Turkmenistan Olympic team and suffered a 2-6 defeat. At that time, head coach Phan Thanh Hung was also on the board of directors.
In this tournament, the Vietnamese team could not have the services of Cong Vinh and Viet Thang due to injuries. However, it will be an opportunity for coach Phan Thanh Hung to have many new experiments for the team.
Entering this match, coach Phan Thanh Hung decided to let Van Quyet play highest up front. Along with that, Trong Hoang, Thanh Hung, Nguyen Sa, Quoc Anh, Tan Tai were also sent onto the field from the start.
Right after the referee blew the starting whistle, the Vietnamese team did not hesitate to play high and attack the Turkmenistan players. The match took place at a fast pace from the start.
However, Turkmenistan with its tall players is showing its advantage in hot plays, pressing the Vietnamese team. The away players continuously create high balls in front of Tan Truong's goal.
More than 10 minutes of the match have passed but there has not been any truly dangerous situation created in front of the two teams' goals. In the 12th minute, the Vietnamese team had to make an unexpected substitution when Tan Tai suffered a relapse of his injury and could not continue playing, giving way to Sy Cuong.
In the 16th minute, the Vietnamese team had the first chance, Quoc Anh was the last to finish after a well-coordinated move, but the ball missed the goal that goalkeeper Rahmanberdi was guarding. After that situation, the Vietnamese team played much more confidently.
In the 19th minute, Tan Truong had a dangerous clearance when the ball found the right position of a Turkmenistan player, but fortunately no danger was created in front of the home team's goal.
In the 20th minute, the away team had the most dangerous shot of the match, but the Turkmenistan striker sent the ball over the crossbar.
In the following minutes, Turkmenistan was still the team that had more possession of the ball and put a lot of pressure on Vietnam's goal. However, the visitors' hot shots still could not defeat Tan Truong.
By the 35th minute, the match was not really clear when both sides could not perform the way the fans expected. The ball was often concentrated in the middle of the field.
In the 39th minute, Trong Hoang accelerated on the right wing, quickly entering the opponent's penalty area while being pursued by 3 defenders, but unfortunately Trong Hoang's pass was blocked.
In the 42nd minute, Trong Hoang suddenly launched a dangerous left-footed shot, but unfortunately the ball went over the crossbar.
In the last minutes of the first half, the ball was often concentrated on the Turkmenistan field. The Vietnamese team had 52% ball control, slightly more than the away team. Despite 2 minutes of added time in the first half, no goals were scored. The two teams went into the break with the score 0-0.
Unlike what happened in the first 45 minutes, the second half took place at a much faster pace when Vietnam and Turkmenistan continuously created quite dangerous opportunities but unfortunately could not convert them into goals.
However, from a mistake in a weak kick-off situation by Tan Truong in the 57th minute, Bayramov had the ball and held it very well in front of the penalty area, then unleashed a low, dangerous shot to open the score 1-0 for the away team.
In the 62nd minute, Tan Truong again had an inaccurate run, but fortunately, captain Bayramov sent the ball out of bounds. Two minutes later, the away team had another chance, but a Turkmenistan player sent the ball over the bar.
After conceding the goal, the Vietnamese team played somewhat passively, allowing the away team's players to continuously run down and pass to their teammates. In the one-on-one battles, Turkmenistan also won.
In the 72nd minute, the Vietnamese team had a rather dangerous situation, but in the final ball control while facing the opponent's goalkeeper, a home player missed the ball.
In the 74th minute, Vietnam had a free kick and Nguyen Sa headed the ball but it went over the crossbar.
In the 80th minute, Vietnam had a very dangerous attack from the right wing, but the final cross could not get past the Turkmenistan defender. What a pity that the home team missed a chance.
In the 87th minute, Vietnam was awarded a free kick right near the 16m50 area. Quang Hai was the one who took the shot but the ball went too high over goalkeeper Rahmanberdi's goal.
In the 90+1 minute, Cao Sy Cuong fired a powerful long-range shot but the ball still could not penetrate the away team's net. Two minutes later, Quang Hai broke free and fired a shot from a tight angle but the Turkmenistan goalkeeper's leg prevented Vietnam from having a chance to celebrate.
In the remaining time, Vietnam tried very hard but could not score an equalizer. The Vietnamese team accepted a 0-1 loss in the opening match.
With this result, Turkmenistan and U23 Korea temporarily share the top spot with 3 points each. In the early match, U23 Korea defeated Laos with a score of 4-1.
