The President attends an art exchange event with overseas Vietnamese.

The 2013 Spring Homeland program was impressively staged with many outstanding performances praising the homeland and the country.

On the evening of February 3rd, an art exchange program titled "Spring in the Homeland 2013 - The Glorious Ancestral Land" took place at the Ly Thai To Monument Square in Hanoi.

The event was attended by President Truong Tan Sang; Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh; Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Pham The Thao, along with a large number of overseas Vietnamese from countries and territories around the world who came to celebrate the 2013 Spring in the Homeland program. The program was organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese - Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Hanoi People's Committee.

Speaking at the exchange program, on behalf of the Party and the State, President Truong Tan Sang welcomed overseas Vietnamese from all over the world back to their homeland to celebrate the traditional Lunar New Year and affirmed that the Party, the State, and the people of Vietnam always consider overseas Vietnamese as an inseparable part of the Vietnamese national community.

The President emphasized that every year when spring arrives, from the depths of the soul of every Vietnamese person, no matter where they are, they long to return to their family and roots to reunite in warm affection, together remembering the merits of their ancestors and wishing for peace and well-being for their homeland, family, and descendants. President Truong Tan Sang happily announced the socio-economic development achievements of the country in 2012 and expressed confidence that in 2013, Vietnam will overcome all challenges and continuously strive to become a powerful nation with a prominent position on the international stage.

President Truong Tan Sang stated: “In the year of the Snake 2013, our country still faces many difficulties and challenges. The tasks ahead are extremely arduous, but we firmly believe that with the resilience, wisdom, and indomitable traditions of our nation, all our compatriots at home and abroad will always unite, uphold the spirit of patriotism, and strive to overcome all difficulties and challenges to become a prosperous and strong nation with a worthy position in the region and on the international stage.”

The 2013 "Spring in the Homeland" program for overseas Vietnamese was impressively staged with many special performances praising the homeland and conveying the warm and vibrant atmosphere of welcoming the new spring throughout the country. It consisted of three parts: Part 1 with the theme "Spring in the Ancestral Land"; Part 2 "The Country Enters Spring"; and Part 3 with the theme "Spring Reunion," featuring performances by famous singers and artists from Vietnam and Vietnamese artists abroad. Also within the framework of the program, the year-end Tet celebration brought to overseas Vietnamese a Tet atmosphere steeped in traditional Vietnamese culture.
