South Korea: Barge sinks, 14 dead and missing

Three South Korean construction workers were confirmed dead on the evening of December 14 after a barge carrying a crane capsized off the country's southeastern coast..

The South Korean Coast Guard said the accident occurred at around 7 p.m. local time in waters off the industrial city.Ulsan, away from the capitalSeoul410km to the southeast.


The 2,600-ton barge sank just minutes after the 80-meter-high crane on it collapsed.


Of the 26 people on the barge, 12 were rescued, 3 died and 11 were missing.


According to AFP, the accident occurred during the construction of a new wharf. The search for the missing is still underway.
