Duc Hoang Temple Festival (Do Luong)

(Baonghean) - On January 15 and 16, 2013, Do Luong district solemnly held the Duc Hoang Temple Festival. According to historical records, in the early 16th century, the Later Le Dynasty was in decline and chaos. The royal family members of the Le Dynasty had to hide their names and identities. King Quang Thieu's wife, Mrs. Bui Thi Ngoc Thuy, fled to the Diem Trang area, now Yen Son and Van Son communes (Do Luong), and gave birth to a handsome son named Le Ninh. The Le Dynasty's subordinate, General Nguyen Kim, raised an army in Ai Lao, found Le Ninh and established himself as emperor, with the reign name Nguyen Hoa.

In the spring of Quy Ty year 1533, King Le Trang Ton rose up to restore the Le dynasty, reclaim land, suppress foreign invaders, revive the country; create conditions for all people to have a stable and peaceful life. In 1548, King Le Trang Ton passed away. The people built a temple to commemorate his merits and the gods. Since the Le dynasty, the people in the area have organized a palanquin procession from Long Thai communal house, Thai Son commune to Duc Hoang temple on the 15th day of the first lunar month, creating a great festival for the people of Do Luong. The Duc Hoang Temple Festival in 2013 was solemnly and dignified, including a new ceremony and an ancient ceremony imbued with the national cultural identity such as: Incense offering ceremony, sacrificial ceremony. Before that, on the evening of January 15, the festival's Organizing Committee organized a ceremony to announce and release flower lanterns to express gratitude to King Le Trang Ton and the gods who have contributed to the country.

In addition to the ceremony, the festival of Duc Hoang Temple had many useful and entertaining activities such as: chess, tug of war competition of Yen Son Commune Women's Union, cockfighting competition highlighting the martial spirit of the nation. Duc Hoang Temple Festival 2013 left many good impressions on the people and tourists from all over.
