(Baonghean) -For many years, Kim Son Town (Que Phong) has been in a state of "thirst" for clean water for daily life. People are eagerly waiting for the water plant to be completed to meet the clean water needs of the people.
Mr. Huu Dao in Kim Son Town confided: “The town has a centralized water supply project, but due to damage and deterioration, most people lack water. My family of 5 people alone, the rainwater reserves are not enough for use, and the well water also runs out during the dry season, so we have to use it very sparingly. Due to the lack of water during the recent heat wave, some people living near the high mountain areas had to go to the streams to bathe and wash.”
Mr. Lang Van Thai - Director of Que Phong General Hospital said: The hospital has over 80 beds serving ethnic minorities. The demand for water here is very high, however, the hospital cannot use the centralized water supply system at all, but has to spend money to dig wells, drill underground wells but many places have no water. The demand for clean water for daily life to serve the hospital is seriously lacking. Ms. Vi Thi Quang in Quang Phong, taking care of her daughter who is being treated at the hospital, reported: Patients have to fight for water to do laundry, the water is not only lacking but also unsanitary, often has scum, and smells musty.

Mr. Hoang Trung Cuong - Vice Chairman of Kim Son Town said: Previously, there was a centralized water supply project that took water from Muong Cuong Canal in Chau Kim Commune to supply over 900 households in the town. This water supply system has been damaged and degraded so it cannot be used. Currently, people mainly use well water and build rainwater tanks for storage. During the hot season, most of the wells dry up. Mr. Lu Van Tien - Head of Que Phong Agricultural Service Station said: During the recent flood, the water supply system was broken by about 20 meters, the district has allocated 50 million VND to repair it but only a few households upstream have water.
In fact, to improve the water supply system in Kim Son Town, since 2010, the State has invested in building a water plant with a total value of over 39 billion VND, a capacity of 1,500 m3/day/night with modern equipment lines mainly from Denmark, a closed operating process. Raw water is taken from the Nam Giai River.
At this time, the factory is about to complete package I and deploy package II. However, the capital has only been advanced over 40%, the construction unit is still investing capital for construction. Kim Son town is looking forward to the State's investment to soon put the water plant into use to meet the clean water needs of the people.
