(Baonghean.vn) -On February 23 (ie January 14, Quy Ty), a group of people from villages of Hop Thanh commune (Yen Thanh, Nghe An) and some neighboring localities raised flags, beat drums, and carried palanquins in colorful, neat clothes from all directions to Dinh Phung to open the 2013 Spring Drum Music Festival.
The drummers were engrossed in their performance.
This is the second time that the People's Committee of Hop Thanh commune has organized a Drum Music Competition on the occasion of the beginning of Spring. According to Mr. Hoang Van Ly - Chairman of the People's Committee of Hop Thanh commune: currently, drum music - a spiritual cultural value in clans is declining (because the younger generation is not interested in this drum music). Therefore, the People's Committee of the commune has organized the competition to preserve and maintain the drum music that their ancestors left behind. Through that, it also aims to educate the younger generation to live responsibly and always look back to their roots.
Every family is determined to win the prize.
The contest lasted for 1 day, not only did 14 clans in and outside the commune participate but also attracted thousands of people inside and outside the district to watch and cheer.
The opening ceremony began with a solemn three-beat drum ceremony performed by 17 clans, accompanied by a majestic choir. Then, each clan competed in the ritual and three beats of drum music. Each clan, the ritual and drum music had their own style and characteristics, but in general, they created a jubilant and respectful atmosphere, a spiritual and cultural space that could move people's hearts.
Thousands of spectators came to watch and cheer
Results: The Organizing Committee awarded the first prize to the Nguyen family (village 10); the second prize to the Vu family (village 4); the two third prizes were awarded to the Hoang family (village 3) and the Pham family (village 5). All other families received consolation prizes.
The elders watched with fascination, as if reliving the breath of youth.
The competition ended at 5pm on the same day, but its echoes still lingered in the hearts of those attending the ceremony. The Hop Thanh Drum Music Competition truly revived the traditional cultural values that were being lost.
