Completing the process of growing Ganoderma lucidum in TT-Hue
Associate Professor - Doctor Tran Thi Van Thi, Hue University of Sciences - Hue University has just completed and transferred the project "Research on the composition and pharmacological effects of Polysaccharide and Trierpenoid in Ganoderma lucidum," helping mushroom growers in Thua Thien-Hue gradually perfect the process and improve product quality.
The objective of the project is to quickly quantify the active ingredient Trierpenoid to evaluate the quality of Ganoderma species; provide information on the content of active ingredients Plyasaccharide, active ingredient Trierpenoid, meeting high food safety standards of Ganoderma mushrooms grown in Thua Thien-Hue.
The study also provides data on basic chemical composition (protein, ash content, moisture content), permissible indicators such as microbiological indicators, and pesticide residues in locally grown Ganoderma lucidum.
According to Oriental medicine, Ganoderma has the effect of strengthening the brain, protecting the mind, strengthening the lungs, detoxifying, and promoting longevity. According to Western medicine, Ganoderma has been used to make medicines to treat diseases such as diabetes, hepatitis, and support the fight against cancer.
Almost all studies have shown that the two components that create the miraculous activity of Ganoderma are Polysaccharide and Trierpenoid. Therefore, the study of the mixed components of Polysaccharide and Trierpenoid carried out in the cultivation and use of Ganoderma in Thua Thien-Hue as it is now is extremely necessary.
According to research, Thua Thien-Hue has up to 71 species of medicinal mushrooms, of which 39 species belong to the Ganoderma family and 7 species have been newly announced, adding to the Vietnamese mushroom system. The province has currently established a technological process for propagating 7 species of medicinal mushrooms belonging to the Ganoderma family; domesticated and selected 17 strains of 9 Ganoderma species with high and stable productivity, which can be applied in the production of medicinal mushrooms in Vietnam; in which, the province is cultivating and producing 9 species of Ganoderma after determining the productivity and season.
Huong Giang Forest Products Processing Joint Stock Company (Thua Thien-Hue) has invested more than 4 billion VND to build a model of growing lingzhi mushrooms and wood ear mushrooms using clean technology at facilities in Huong Thuy town.
On an area of 5,000m2, each month, the company produces more than 50,000 bags, yielding nearly 2 tons, with a selling price of 450,000 to 550,000 VND/kg.
Thua Thien-Hue has also been successful in cultivating lingzhi mushrooms from rubber tree sawdust.
The substrate for growing Ganoderma lucidum includes rubber sawdust, corn bran or rice powder and ironwood sawdust, with a ratio of 96% rubber sawdust, 5% corn bran or rice powder, 1% ironwood sawdust. This is a reasonable ratio obtained after many years of research, cultivation and production and must follow a very strict technical process.
With this method, every year, Phu Luong agricultural cooperative (Thua Thien-Hue) grows and consumes over 300 kg of lingzhi mushrooms.
