The 21st World Military Taekwondo Championship was a great success, leaving a deep impression on the Vietnamese army, country and people.

Attending the closing ceremony were General Phung Quang Thanh, Minister of National Defense; Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 21st World Military Taekwondo Championship; representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Military Region 7; Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; senior officials of the International Military Sports Council (CISM); ambassadors and military attaches of various countries.
In his closing speech, General Phung Quang Thanh emphasized that the 21st World Military Taekwondo Championships had left a positive impression on the solidarity, friendship, cooperation and development in the field of sports between the Vietnam People's Army and the armies of other countries around the world. The Minister also welcomed the athletes' spirit of competition and highly appreciated the objectivity and fairness of the Referee Council throughout the tournament.

During the 4 days of competition, 210 athletes from 30 delegations around the world competed in 16 combat events and 4 forms events. Notably, the tournament had a total of 234 matches in the combat events with many beautiful scoring moves. The spirit of effort and determination to win of the athletes - the competing soldiers contributed to the success of the tournament, contributing to strengthening the solidarity between the armies of the participating countries.

Colombian athlete Gietsica Barravo is very happy to compete in the 21st World Military Tercundo. Before coming here, she had read many books about the Vietnam War.

Commenting on the tournament, Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Head of the tournament organizing committee, said: “We have successfully organized the tournament, in line with the CISM motto: Friendship through sports. Through the tournament, the armies of other countries will understand more about the people and country of Vietnam, especially about Vietnam's open foreign policy, and contribute to building trust with the armies of other countries around the world.”
At the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded trophies and titles to the best teams, athletes, coaches, and referees of the tournament. At the end of the ceremony, the CISM flag was handed over to the US Army - the host of the 22nd World Military Taekwondo Championship in 2013.
On the final day of competition, athlete Kim Linh won a bronze medal when she won the third-place match in the women's under-73kg category, bringing the total number of medals in the competition for host Vietnam to 1 silver and 3 bronze medals.
The gold medals in the final events of the tournament went to athletes Li Chen (China, women under 67kg), Gietsica Bravo (Colombia, women under 73kg), Soi.Mohamad Emani (Iran, men under 80kg) and Soi.Medi Khodabatsi (Iran, men under 87kg).
