US: 95 cars collided on the highway

Three people were killed and dozens of others injured in a multi-vehicle crash on a highway in Virginia (USA) on Sunday, March 31.

A total of 95 cars crashed into each other at an intersection on Interstate 77 in southwestern Virginia, said Corinne Geller, a spokeswoman for the Virginia State Police Department.Virginiasaid. 3 people died on the spot and 25 others were injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

The accident happened around 1:15 p.m. Sunday (March 31), when the area was covered in thick fog. Corinne Geller also said that police estimated that there were 17 collisions, causing nearly 100 cars to crash into each other in a 1.5-kilometer (0.9-mile) stretch near the Fancy Gap mountain area. Some cars caught fire, while others were crushed by the impact. Authorities here sent a series of buses to take the trapped people to hotels.
