“Spectacular goal” in the 89th minute
With limited budget and very slow disbursement, it seemed that SLNA would fail in selecting foreign players and retaining key players. But in the end, thanks to their negotiation skills and knowing how to “cut their coat according to their cloth”, SLNA’s coaching staff had a very spectacular “injury-time goal”…
(Baonghean)With limited budget and very slow disbursement, it seemed that SLNA would fail in selecting foreign players and retaining key players. But in the end, thanks to their negotiation skills and knowing how to “cut their coat according to their cloth”, SLNA’s coaching staff had a very spectacular “injury-time goal”…
Nearly a month ago, SLNA's coaching staff was "sitting on fire" when the season was approaching but a series of key players intended to "leave", the transfer deadline was about to expire but no foreign players had been signed... However, now, everything has changed when SLNA not only retained its key players but also added "killers" such as Plaza and Kavin to the squad.
Striker Kavin (driver) will return to SLNA in the 2013 season.
The most impressive and surprising thing is the return of Jamaican player - striker Kavin. In his first season playing for SLNA, Kavin left a big mark on Nghe An fans. With his aggressive playing style, technical skills and diverse finishing ability, Kavin has become the "fear" of the defenses of V.League teams when facing him. Kavin was one of the decisive factors in SLNA's championship in the 2011 season with "more precious than gold" goals at decisive moments. At the end of the 2011 season, although his ankle injury had not yet recovered, Kavin was still very valuable and V.Hai Phong quickly brought him to the port city team with a signing bonus of nearly 300,000 USD/year. At V.Hai Phong, due to his injury not yet recovering, Kavin became "redundant" and at times the team threatened to terminate his contract. At that time, talking to us, Coach Huu Thang said that if Kavin intended to return to the Nghe An team, he would always be ready to welcome him, because he highly appreciated Kavin's talent and had enough "tricks" to use this "killer". And in the 2013 season, before the player transfer market closed, Kavin agreed to join SLNA Club with a fairly low signing fee, to the joy of SLNA's coaching staff.

With the return of Kavin in the 2013 season, the unanswered “scoring” problem in the 2012 season, leading to SLNA having a record 13-match draw streak, will be easily resolved by coach Huu Thang. In addition, the successful retention of young pillars Trong Hoang, Au Van Hoan, Dinh Dong… is good news for Nghe An fans. Many people think that with limited budget, SLNA will find it difficult to retain these talented players. However, the common difficulties of the teams, combined with the negotiation skills of SLNA’s coaching staff and most of all, deep down, these players still want to be SLNA players, to wear SLNA’s shirt, to play in the “fire pan of Thanh Vinh” with the enthusiastic cheers of Nghe An fans, so in the end, these players agreed to stay at SLNA.
With enough “strong soldiers and generals”, Coach Huu Thang and his team are ready to wait for the opening whistle of the new season. SLNA’s goal in the 2013 V.League season will certainly not stop at staying in the league!
