"Words must go hand in hand with actions for people to believe"

(Baonghean) -Among many typical advanced examples of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's moral example recently commended and recognized by Anh Son district, Mr. Nguyen Trong Thao (56 years old), Head of Village 2, Linh Son commune is a typical example.

For nearly 8 years being elected as village chief by the people, Mr. Nguyen Trong Thao has never stopped worrying and thinking about how to be worthy of the love and trust of the villagers. For more than 8 years, in his role as village chief, Mr. Thao has always been enthusiastic and devoted to the work of the village. Village 2, Linh Son commune has 164 households and 556 people, the lives of the villagers still face many difficulties.

At the end of 2012, after the Party Committee and the commune government implemented the province's policy on rural traffic, Mr. Thao proactively discussed with the Party Committee members of the village, organized meetings to discuss plans, assigned tasks, and then organized propaganda to mobilize villagers to donate land to open roads and contribute money to build roads in the village. Village 2 has many roads stretching through many alleys to build rural roads according to the province's regulations, many sections of roads in the village must be widened, many trees, fences, and civil works will have to be removed.

The process of mobilizing people in the village to donate land and demolish road construction projects encountered many difficulties because many people did not agree and objected. In the face of these difficulties, he did not back down, but sought to exchange, discuss, and explain to everyone to understand and correctly perceive the land donation for road construction. Every day after tiring working hours, Mr. Thao took the time with comrades in the Party Committee, Party Cell, Front, and village organizations to persistently "go to every alley, knock on every door" to propagate, mobilize, and explain thoroughly and reasonably to convince each person to participate in donating land for road construction. He thought that in order for people to follow, his family must be a pioneer and set an example. He discussed with his wife and children to be the pioneers in donating 300m2 of land, and at the same time, his family voluntarily spent 30 million VND to complete a 125m long village road, contributing to helping people and vehicles in the village easily circulate and develop the economy.

Moved by the work of Mr. Thao's family, many households in village 2 voluntarily contributed money, donated land, donated trees, demolished fences and many civil works to clear the road. For households in especially difficult circumstances, he lent them money from his own pocket, and at the same time called on villagers to donate 8,600,000 VND to support poor families to build roads in the village. With a dedicated, responsible way of working, knowing how to sacrifice personal interests, putting the interests of the collective first, Mr. Nguyen Trong Thao persuaded the people of village 2, Linh Son commune to actively and voluntarily participate in building rural roads. Thanks to that, in just a short time, village 2 has expanded and cleared 14 roads with a length of 5,415m and poured cement concrete with a total length of 230m and the total amount of money mobilized reached 338 million VND.

Not only is he a village chief devoted to his work, Mr. Nguyen Trong Thao is also energetic and good at economics. With his limping legs and skinny body, from scratch, he and his wife have actively produced, raised livestock, and applied comprehensive economic models to bring high economic efficiency, earning his family 70-80 million VND each year. Thanks to that, the family has the conditions to raise their children to study successfully. When talking about him, everyone in village 2 loves and admires him. When asked about the secrets to success in his work as village chief in recent years, Mr. Thao said: "To get people's support and consensus, I have to be a role model in everything, what I say must go hand in hand with what I do for people to believe. I have to put the interests of the people first, then everything will be successful."
