Viet Tri City (Phu Tho province) has long been known as the birthplace of the Vietnamese nation, home to the Van Lang capital of the Hung Kings – the first state of Vietnam in its early days of nation-building. The system of tangible and intangible cultural heritage exists throughout the villages and communes of the city, encompassing various forms such as archaeological sites, architectural and artistic relics, revolutionary and resistance war relics, traditional festivals, and folk art forms. This affirms the profound and immense historical, cultural, artistic, and humanistic value of Viet Tri City within the cultural heritage system of the ancestral land.

In particular, the Hung Kings Temple historical site, the place of worship for the Hung Kings and also the most important national historical site, has become a destination with spiritual and religious significance, deeply rooted in humanistic values and the traditional Vietnamese moral principle of "drinking water, remembering the source." Among its notable intangible cultural heritages, the Hung Kings worship belief and Phu Tho Xoan singing have been recognized by UNESCO as representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Recognizing the potential and advantages of Viet Tri in its socio-economic development strategy, the Viet Tri City Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee have focused on directing the implementation of several strategic tasks with the perspective and goal of developing Viet Tri into a driving force for socio-economic, scientific, and technological development of the province and the region; and a city of festivals celebrating the roots of the Vietnamese nation.

The city focused on directing the implementation of key tourism development projects such as the Hung Temple Historical Site and Van Lang Park, investing in basic infrastructure projects to upgrade the city to a Class I urban area, and celebrating the 50th anniversary of Viet Tri city, thus enhancing the city's appearance.
