Groundbreaking ceremony of the Passenger Terminal Construction Project - Vinh Airport
(Baonghean.vn) - This morning, April 26, in Vinh City, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project to build a Passenger Terminal - Vinh Airport.
Attending the ceremony were comrades: Phan Dinh Trac - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee; Nguyen Huu Quang - Standing Member of the National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee; Pham Quy Tieu - Deputy Minister of Transport, along with representatives of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, leaders of Vietnam Airlines Corporation...
On the provincial leadership side, there were comrades: Ho Duc Phoc - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Thai Van Hang - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors.
The project “Passenger Terminal – Vinh Airport” has a total area of 11,706m2, invested by ACV, with a total investment of nearly 800 billion VND, using capital from the unit’s “Investment and Development Fund”. The project has a designed capacity of 2 million passengers/year, capable of serving 1,000 passengers/peak hour, and can receive 4 A320 – A321, ATR72 or equivalent aircraft. The Transport Construction Corporation 4 is the construction unit. The project is expected to be completed and put into operation on September 2, 2014.

The project is by contractor CPG-PAE (Airport Consulting Joint Venture of
Comrade Pham Quy Tieu, Deputy Minister of Transport, spoke at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said: The passenger terminal project - Vinh Airport is an important project, contributing to the construction of transport infrastructure and the socio-economic development of Nghe An province in particular and the North Central region in general. The Provincial People's Committee will continue to create conditions for the project to be implemented on schedule and soon completed and put into use, making an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the province.
It is known that Vinh Airport was built by the French in 1937, with a favorable location, near National Highway 1A, next to Thong Nhat Railway, 14km from Cua Lo beach. The airport combines with Noi Bai International Airport and neighboring airports to create a civil aviation network in the Northern region. Over the years, the airport has always maintained a growth rate of 15-30%/year.
