Eclipta alba is commonly used to treat rough skin, dark complexion, premature graying of hair, etc.

Eclipta alba is a small, hairy plant that grows wild throughout Vietnam. Its leaves are opposite, oblong, and hairy on both sides. The flowers are small and white, and their most distinctive feature is that when crushed, they turn black like ink – hence the name "Eclipta alba" (ink grass).

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, Eclipta prostrata has a sweet and sour taste; a cooling nature; and acts on the Liver and Kidney meridians. It has the effects of nourishing Yin, tonifying the kidneys; smoothing the skin, darkening hair, and strengthening teeth; cooling the blood, and stopping bleeding. Eclipta prostrata is often used to treat rough skin, dark complexion, premature graying of hair, loose teeth, Yin deficiency with blood heat, dizziness, blurred vision, vomiting blood, bloody stools, and Yin deficiency of the liver and kidneys. Below are some of the uses of Eclipta prostrata:

To treat premature graying of hair, hair loss, dizziness, and blurred vision due to kidney and liver yin deficiency: Boil 15g of Eclipta prostrata, 15g of Ligustrum lucidum, 10g of Rehmannia glutinosa, and 15g of processed Polygonum multiflorum in water and drink the decoction once daily for 30 consecutive days; or boil 25g of Eclipta prostrata, 15g of Chrysanthemum indicum, and 15g of Rehmannia glutinosa in water, discard the dregs, and drink the decoction daily instead of tea for 30 consecutive days; or boil 15g of Eclipta prostrata and 15g of Rehmannia glutinosa in water and drink the decoction once daily for 30 consecutive days.

Boosting immunity and inhibiting cancer cell growth: Activating the immune system, especially T lymphocytes, inhibits the growth of cancer cells, particularly in stomach cancer.

Hemostasis: The tannins in Eclipta alba have the effect of increasing the rate of blood clotting.

Treatment for sore throat: Take 20g each of Polygonum multiflorum and dandelion, 12g of Rhus chinensis, 16g of Lonicera japonica, and 16g of Glycyrrhiza glabra. Boil these ingredients in water and drink the decoction. Drink one dose daily for 3-5 days.

Treatment for frequent nosebleeds: Take 25g of Eclipta prostrata and 20g of lotus root. Boil them in water; divide the decoction into two doses and drink one in the morning and one in the evening; continue for 20 days.

Treatment for vaginal itching: Take 100g of fresh Eclipta alba (Eclipta prostrata), boil it in water, and use the resulting decoction to wash the external vaginal area.

Treatment for high fever: Take 20 grams of Polygonum multiflorum, 12 grams of Xanthium strumarium, 16 grams of Cissus quadrangularis, 16 grams of Glycyrrhiza glabra, 20 grams of Pueraria lobata root, and 20 grams of Vernonia cinerea. Wash thoroughly and decoct for drinking, one dose per day.

Treatment for coughing up blood: 25g of Eclipta prostrata, 20g of Angelica dahurica, 10g of Donkey hide gelatin. Boil the Eclipta prostrata and Angelica dahurica in water, pour the decoction into a bowl, then add the Donkey hide gelatin and mix well. Take one dose daily, divided into two servings; continue for 7 days.

Treatment for hives: Crush together leaves of *Polygonum multiflorum*, *Houttuynia cordata*, *Polygonum hydropiper*, *Haematoxylon campechianum*, *Ascariaceae*, *Ascariaceae*, *Ascariaceae*, cucumber leaves, and jasmine leaves. Add water, squeeze out the juice, and drink it. Use the remaining pulp to rub or apply to the swollen areas.

To treat body weakness, anemia, and loss of appetite: Take 100g each of Polygonum multiflorum and Cynodon dactylon, and 50g of dried ginger. Chop the herbs finely, lightly roast them, remove any impurities, add 3 cups of fresh coconut water, and simmer until reduced to 8 parts. Drink twice a day.

Treatment for nocturnal emissions: Take 8 grams of dried and powdered Eclipta prostrata with rice water, or boil 30 grams of Eclipta alba in water and drink the resulting decoction.

Treatment for kidney stones and hematuria (blood in urine): Boil 5g of Eclipta prostrata (Eclipta alba) and 15g of Plantago major (Plantago major) in water. Add sugar to taste when drinking. Divide into several portions and drink throughout the day instead of tea, continuously for 15 days.

Treatment for fatty liver disease: 30g of Polygonum multiflorum, 20g of Ligustrum lucidum, 15g of Alisma orientalis, 15g of Angelica sinensis. For fatty liver disease caused by alcohol addiction, add: 30g of Pueraria lobata, 15g of Ligustrum lucidum seeds, 15g of Taraxacum officinale; for fatty liver disease caused by obesity, add: 6g of Rheum palmatum, 15g of lotus leaves. Boil in water and drink one dose daily.

Treatment for sore throat: Take 20 grams of Polygonum multiflorum, 12 grams of Rhus chinensis, 16 grams of Glycyrrhiza glabra, 16 grams of Lonicera japonica, and 20 grams of Taraxacum officinale. Wash all ingredients thoroughly and boil them to make a decoction to drink once a day.
