(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of June 23, 36,481 junior high school graduates in the province entered the first day of the 10th grade entrance exam.

Compared to last year's entrance exam, this year's number of students decreased by 3,911. Of the 68 high schools in the province (excluding Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted and Vinh University High School for the Gifted), 66 schools held entrance exams (two Ethnic Boarding High Schools did not hold exams). The Department of Education and Training organized 68 exam councils with 1,531 exam rooms (175 exam rooms less than last year).

According to the approved plan, in the 2013-2014 school year, the whole province will enroll 35,321 students in grade 10, including 385 students in 11 grade 10 classes of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted; 28,526 students in 751 grade 10 classes of 68 public high schools; 4,470 students in 103 grade 10 classes of 22 non-public high schools and 1,940 students in 47 grade 10 classes of high school supplementary education at 20 continuing education centers.

Thus, 79.25% of candidates will be admitted to public high schools, 12.25% of candidates will be admitted to non-public high schools and 5.32% of candidates will be admitted to supplementary high school grade 10; only 03.18% of candidates will not be admitted to grade 10; that is not including the number of students who will be admitted to 10 classes of Vinh University's Specialized High School.

In Vinh alone, not counting the number of students who will pass the entrance exam to the two specialized high schools, the 8 high schools in the city will enroll 41 public grade 10 classes with 1,558 students and 26 non-public grade 10 classes with 1,092 students out of a total of 2,779 students registered for the exam; meaning that only 129 students will not be admitted to high school. But if we subtract the number of candidates who will pass the entrance exam to the two specialized high schools (this number is certainly more than 129), the 8 high schools in Vinh city will not have enough students to enroll as planned.
