Bland from the judges

(Baonghean) -With unprofessional comments, easy scoring, and more encouragement for comedy than singing, the judges of "Perfect Couple" are receiving many negative points from the audience and the media...

As a program that received a lot of love from the audience when it first appeared, “Perfect Couple” helped the audience learn more about the singing talents of actors, athletes, MCs... when their combination with professional singers created excitement for viewers through each competition night.

Having gone 1/3 of the way, this year’s “Perfect Couple” program did not receive the same eager anticipation from the audience as last season. The reason for this is because many of the invited singers did not have enough experience to guide their co-stars. After 5 competition nights, we only saw the display of ideas in the visual part, but did not see the progress of the contestants in singing. And that display more or less caused boredom and disgust for the audience.

Mr. Tran Quoc Chung (Hung Dung - Vinh City), a regular follower of this program, said: “If we want to enjoy the “listening part”, this year’s “Perfect Couple” only sees the combination of Thao Trang and Thuan Viet as so-so, because he also has the ability to sing, the rest only sees the costumes, dancing and abuse of acting of the actors. There are some performances that I consider “disastrous” such as “Bang Bang” performed by Cat Phuong and Dinh Tung, or “Duong Cong” performed by Ngoc Oanh and Nathalee. Watching these performances, we only see the singers and actors acting but their singing is very bad”.

The performances are often meant to make the audience laugh, or the love stories are mainly about jealousy and resentment, which are both cheesy and unconvincing. There are songs like “Don’t leave me tonight” by Thanh Thuy and Duong Trieu Vu with Indian-influenced arrangements and belly dancing by actress Thanh Thuy, making the love story irrelevant to the content of the song. Or “Bang Bang” by Phan Dinh Tung and Cat Phuong, whose lyrics were adapted to match the stage concept. But the adaptation of the lyrics, combined with Cat Phuong’s rapping, was jarring to the television audience.

As for the judges, they usually only give general compliments or comments like: "I like your performance" or "you have good ideas"... even judges who are famous for being "picky" like director Le Hoang this year also seem to be very "gentle" and his scoring scale is also more open. Most of the judges give a score of 9, if any performance has invested in the choreography, outstanding acting regardless of "singing like talking" or "singing like screaming", it will still receive a score of 10 as usual.

The “perfect” score of 10 was given right from the first live show with the couple Le Trung Cuong - Khanh Ngoc, Phan Dinh Tung - Cat Phuong. The score of 10 shows that the judges were too easy on the contestants. Cat Phuong mostly read the lyrics but did not sing in the performance “Duong xa wet mua”, but in return she made the audience laugh. Although Le Trung Cuong sang well the revolutionary lyrical music with “Truong Son Dong - Truong Son Tay”, his partner Khanh Ngoc sang in a youth style that was not really suitable, so this performance did not deserve a score of 10. This set a precedent for easy 10 scores in the following nights. The most surprising thing was the 3 absolute 10 points for the couple Phan Dinh Tung and Cat Phuong in the international music night. They almost did not sing but mainly performed comedy. Many audiences wondered if their performance was so excellent to get such an absolute score. Is “Perfect Couple” no longer a singing competition?

With the criteria that a performance in the show must satisfy both entertainment and vocals, even if the vocals are weaker, a well-staged performance is still favored by the judges. Judge Le Hoang once expressed to the press: "Perfect Couple" is an entertainment program, so the stage effects that the performances bring are highly appreciated. Vocals are not too important but the effectiveness of the performance must be taken into account.

Sharing the same opinion, Luu Thien Huong said that if we only consider singing, it is not enough and does not meet the criteria of "Perfect Couple". According to the female judge, this is a singing competition between a professional and a semi-professional singer. The artist is forced to guide the performer to improve each night. The performance is a harmonious combination of good and weak singers to create an audience effect. If the singing is not judged, this is a "Duet Competition", not an entertainment program.

Mr. Nguyen Son (Vinh City) used to be a TV show producer and said: “As a reality TV show, the Producer and the contestants must consider whether the performances will honor or damage their image? The contestants must be capable enough to meet the criteria of the program format. In “Perfect Couple”, in terms of appearance, we only see dancing and making the audience laugh, but in terms of singing, which is the main factor to attract, there has not been much investment, most of the contestants sing out of tune and out of tune.”

It has been the 5th live show, but according to many people's predictions, the program "Perfect Couple" will hardly find any contestant pair that can create an effect in entertainment and singing like Doan Trang - Tran Thanh, or become a "phenomenon" like Pham Van Mach, "Cu Trong Xoay" like the first season, and even bring boredom to the audience.
