A solemn funeral ceremony was held for Comrade Ho Duc Viet.
On June 3rd, at the National Funeral Home No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Communist Party, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Central Organizing Committee of the Party, and the family solemnly held the funeral ceremony for Comrade Ho Duc Viet, former member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, and former Head of the Central Organizing Committee, according to the State funeral protocol.
On June 3rd, at the National Funeral Home No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Communist Party, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Central Organizing Committee of the Party, and the family solemnly held the funeral ceremony for Comrade Ho Duc Viet, former member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, and former Head of the Central Organizing Committee, according to the State funeral protocol.

Delegations from the Central Committee led by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the State Presidency led by President Truong Tan Sang, the National Assembly led by National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, the Government led by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front led by Chairman Huynh Dam, visited Comrade Ho Duc Viet and offered condolences to his family.
Comrades: Former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; former Presidents Tran Duc Luong and Nguyen Minh Triet; former Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Van An, General Vo Nguyen Giap, along with many other former high-ranking leaders of the Party and State, came to pay their respects, send wreaths to Comrade Ho Duc Viet, and offer condolences to his family.
Writing in the condolence book to express his sympathy to the family of Comrade Ho Duc Viet, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emotionally wrote: "We deeply mourn the passing of Comrade Ho Duc Viet, former member of the Central Committee of the Party, former member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, former Head of the Central Organization Department, former National Assembly delegate, and member of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly - a person who made many contributions to the cause of renovation, construction, and defense of the Fatherland. His passing is a loss to the Party, the State, and our people, leaving immeasurable sorrow for his family, relatives, comrades, and friends."
Over 400 delegations of leaders from the Party, State, ministries, departments, and organizations at the central and local levels nationwide; embassies and international organizations in Hanoi came to pay their respects and send wreaths to Comrade Ho Duc Viet.
At exactly 3 PM, the memorial service for Comrade Ho Duc Viet was held solemnly.
Attending the memorial service were Comrade Le Hong Anh, Member of the Political Bureau, Standing Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Head of the Funeral Committee; leaders and former leaders of the Party and State; representatives of agencies and organizations at the central and local levels; and the family, comrades, and friends of Comrade Ho Duc Viet.
At the memorial service, Comrade Le Hong Anh emotionally recalled the life and glorious revolutionary career of Comrade Ho Duc Viet.
Comrade Ho Duc Viet was born on August 13, 1947, into a family with a rich tradition of patriotism and revolution in Quynh Doi commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province. From a young age, he absorbed the patriotic spirit and unwavering revolutionary will of his grandfather, father, and the patriotic revolutionaries of his homeland.
For over 45 years of revolutionary activity, Comrade Ho Duc Viet remained loyal to the Party, the Fatherland, and the people, continuing the glorious patriotic and revolutionary traditions of his homeland and family, a role model of dedication and creativity in his work. In any position, he always stayed close to reality, with keen and dynamic thinking, a spirit of daring to think, daring to act, and daring to take responsibility, and made contributions alongside the entire Party, army, and people to overcome many difficulties and advance the revolutionary cause.
During his revolutionary career, he served as the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Provincial Party Secretary of two provinces: Quang Ninh and Thai Nguyen. He made many contributions to the development of the young generation of Vietnam and of his local area.
As a member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Central Committee, and Head of the Central Organization Department, Comrade Ho Duc Viet made significant contributions to the development and concretization of the Party Congress's guidelines and resolutions, and directed the implementation of resolutions and directives of the Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat in various fields of work, especially in Party organization and personnel work. With the responsibility of heading the Party's advisory body on organization and personnel work, he proactively proposed many important policies and guidelines on organization and personnel, strictly implemented the Party's regulations on personnel work, and focused on consolidating and improving the effectiveness of the agencies responsible for organization and personnel work, and building and training a team of personnel professionals.
As a member of the National Assembly for the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th terms, Comrade participated as a member of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Committee on Science, Technology and Environment. He made many contributions to the fields of science, technology, and environment within the National Assembly, always proving himself worthy of being a representative of the people. As Chairman of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentary Group (11th term), Comrade consistently cared for and strengthened solidarity and friendship with the people of other countries in accordance with the Party's guidelines and viewpoints.
In his work and life, Comrade Ho Duc Viet always maintained a deep and affectionate bond with his homeland, friends, comrades, and colleagues. To his family, he was a kind and exemplary son, husband, father, and grandfather.
In recognition of Comrade Ho Duc Viet's achievements and contributions, the Party and State of Vietnam awarded him the First-Class Independence Order, the First-Class Labor Order, the 40-Year Party Membership Badge, and many other prestigious medals and awards.
On the same day, the funeral ceremony for Comrade Ho Duc Viet was held at Mai Dich Cemetery, Hanoi.
